Job Description

Job Title: Interim Director -- IT Operations
Location: Columbia, SC | Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week
Duration: 6 months, with possibility of extension
Interview: In-person interview required

We are seeking an experienced IT leader to stabilize research computing operations, strengthen IT service delivery, and improve organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Lead IT operational stabilization, service delivery, and organizational improvement.
Assess IT infrastructure, services, projects, budgets, resources, and performance.
Establish governance, performance metrics, accountability, and executive reporting.
Lead and coach teams while ensuring operational efficiency and service continuity.
Support leadership transition and improve IT operational processes.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in IT operations, organizational transformation, service delivery, and complex technology initiatives.
Experience leading teams, managing resources, and improving operational performance.
Strong IT infrastructure and service delivery background.
HPC / research computing experience preferred, including compute infrastructure, cluster operations, or workload scheduling.
Bachelor's degree required.
