Location: Bristol<br />Salary: £50,000-£65,000, depending on experience<br />Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time<br />Working: Hybrid Advance TRS is currently working with an established and growing consultancy within the UK water sector to recruit a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer for its Bristol-based water team.
This is a newly available opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to join a growing team delivering a broad portfolio of water and wastewater projects for major clients across the UK.
The position could suit engineers specialising in either water and wastewater infrastructure/networks or non-infrastructure, with candidates from either background encouraged to apply. Experience across both areas would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Opportunity The successful candidate will take a lead role in the technical delivery of water and wastewater projects, working alongside Project Managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Depending on the candidate's experience and area of specialism, projects may include:
Water and wastewater networks and pipelines<br />Foul and surface water drainage<br />Pumping stations<br />CSOs and network storage<br />SuDS and nature-based solutions<br />Flood alleviation schemes<br />Water and wastewater treatment assets<br />Civil works associated with process and MEICA installations<br />Outline and detailed design<br />Technical specifications and construction documentationThe role provides the opportunity to become involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early-stage development and optioneering through to detailed design, tender and construction.
Key Responsibilities Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering design packages.<br />Produce and check calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and other technical deliverables.<br />Support projects through concept, outline and detailed design stages.<br />Coordinate civil designs with process, MEICA and other multidisciplinary requirements.<br />Work closely with Project Managers to establish deliverables, programmes and quality requirements.<br />Review and manage design changes throughout project delivery.<br />Contribute to tender preparation, tender assessments and contract administration.<br />Liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.<br />Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.<br />Support the development of innovative, sustainable and cost-effective engineering solutions.<br />Contribute to bids, tenders and other business development activities.<br />Help develop and maintain strong client relationships.
About the Candidate The client is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in the water sector, ideally with experience in either infrastructure/networks or non-infrastructure design. Candidates should have:
Significant experience in water and/or wastewater civil engineering.<br />Strong technical design experience within infrastructure/networks or non-infrastructure.<br />Experience delivering projects through to detailed design.<br />Experience of multidisciplinary design and an understanding of the interaction between civil, process and MEICA disciplines.<br />Experience of contract and tender preparation, tender assessment and/or contract administration.<br />Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.<br />The ability to work independently and take ownership of technical delivery.<br />A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.<br />Chartered Engineer status or be working towards chartership with an appropriate professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM.For candidates operating at Principal level, experience of technical leadership, mentoring, client management and supporting business development would be particularly beneficial.
