By Light is seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Simulation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and maintaining simulation software for complex systems, with a strong focus on software engineering best practices and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance simulation software for complex systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Implement and integrate simulation models with existing systems and frameworks.
  • Optimize simulation performance and scalability to meet real-time and large-scale requirements.
  • Write comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and system tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex simulation issues to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in software development best practices and simulation techniques.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in simulation and software engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on simulation and modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with simulation frameworks and tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Ptolemy, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time simulation and embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of parallel and distributed computing techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Active Secret clearance required.
