The Marketing Director is responsible for leading the marketing department by setting the strategic direction of the firm's marketing function and serving as a strategic partner to firm leadership on brand, market positioning and growth. The Marketing Director determines which industries, niches and audiences the firm should target, builds the annual and multi-year marketing plan aligned with department and partner goals and the firm's overall vision, and holds the department accountable to measurable outcomes.

The Marketing Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and has direct reports. Leads the marketing department effectively ensuring the department goals and tasks align with and support the firm's overall strategic goals. Manages the department's workflows and ensures all processes are completed timely in accordance with firm standards and guidelines. During periods of high-volume or staff absences, may serve as back-up to team members.

Develops the firm's annual and multi-year marketing strategy and calendar and secures alignment on it with the Managing Partner, the COO and the partner group. Identifies and prioritizes the industries, niches, geographies and buyer audiences the firm should target, and recommends where marketing investment should be added or withdrawn based on department goals. Serves as strategic counsel to the Managing Partner, COO, niche leaders and service line leaders on brand, positioning and market opportunity.

Establishes standards for market research and competitive intelligence and translates research and client insight into direction the partner group can act on. Supports the development of niche and industry business growth plans by serving as a thought partner to the Managing Partner and niche leaders; Executes marketing strategy in alignment of the growth plans. Develops clear marketing objectives and leads the brand and marketing strategy for HTB Wealth Advisors, aligning efforts with firm priorities while supporting Wealth Advisor goals, initiatives and growth.

Supports the COO on the marketing and communications strategy for merger and acquisition activity and for the firm's strategic plan. Defines the department's key performance indicators, the reporting calendar and the definition of success for each marketing program. Owns brand positioning and brand standards and approves any change to how the firm presents itself in the market.

Builds the strategy for the firm's paid marketing channels, including paid media (digital, social and traditional), print media, organic social media, email marketing, website, content, public relations, and recommends and approves the annual channel mix. Owns the annual marketing budget, allocates it across programs and channels, and raises risks to the COO early. Partners with the HR Manager to establish and implement the internal communications strategy to foster a brand-centered employee experience.

Owns the relationship with the firm's outside marketing agency, including scope, annual strategy sessions and evaluation of results. Provides marketing strategy and materials in support of firm proposals and pursuits led by firm leadership. Advances the department's use of emerging marketing technology and artificial intelligence while protecting brand integrity, security, and client confidentiality.

Leads the firm's community engagement strategy and planning, identifying and prioritizing opportunities, partnerships, sponsorships and events that strengthen brand visibility, build key relationships and support the firm's strategic goals. Establishes standards and processes for market research, client insights and competitive intelligence to advise and ensure reliable information is available to support firm and marketing decisions. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness and flexibility of the marketing department and firm.

The Marketing Director manages the marketing department and holds formal supervisory responsibilities. These supervisory duties include setting performance goals and deadlines, organizing team workflows, resolving operational issues, and addressing employee concerns. The Marketing Director also coordinates with other departments and develops training and professional growth opportunities for his or her team. Additionally, the Marketing Director provides hands-on support in all marketing functions to ensure accurate and timely task completion.

Advanced knowledge of marketing strategy, market research, positioning, audience segmentation and integrated planning
Strong command of digital, social, content, email and paid media channels
Business acumen in budgets, resourcing and return on marketing investments
Executive-level facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to counsel partners and lead planning sessions
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to support accurate data reporting
Strong attention to detail and commitment to correctness in all published copy, materials, and content
Positive attitude with a strong commitment to supporting a respectful, solutions-focused, and team-based culture

Sound judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee, client, and financial information
Ability to analyze market trends, client behavior and competitor activity to develop effective marketing strategies
Ability to define key performance indicators, interpret data and turn findings into action
Ability and willingness to travel as needed and work occasional evenings and weekends to support firm events, community engagement, client initiatives and other business needs.

Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field. Advanced degree or professional marketing certification.

Minimum: 8+ years of marketing strategy experience, including annual and long-term strategic planning, and direct experience leading a marketing team
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, the individual should be proficient in the use of computers and have knowledge of marketing programs used by the firm such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, HubSpot, and WordPress. Microsoft Office experience, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required. Familiarity with marketing analytics and reporting tools is expected.
