Job Description

Job Description
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing the hospital's strategic marketing plan, aligning marketing initiatives with the organization's business goals and operational readiness. This role applies industry best practices in marketing to drive measurable results, focusing time and budget on the priorities that matter most to the hospital's growth.

The Specialist collaborates with leadership, Finance, and Operations to keep the plan aligned, prioritized, and on budget, and partners with the hospital's marketing agency to execute the tactics that bring it to life. This role requires the ability to learn the business quickly and take ownership of execution early. This role also functions as a close working partner to the Director of Development & Community Relations, who oversees the hospital's marketing function.

Donor storytelling, Georgia HEART promotion, and community-relations content are shared priorities, the Director will plan them and work with specialist to execute, and both share responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the final product.

Basic Qualifications

Education:
Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of marketing, communications, or public relations experience required. Healthcare marketing experience preferred. Experience with digital marketing, social media management, website content management, and graphic design platforms preferred. Candidates without direct healthcare marketing experience should demonstrate a strong aptitude and willingness to quickly learn the business of healthcare. Excellent written communication skills are required.

Candidates should be strong, versatile writers who can produce clear, accurate, on-brand copy across formats without heavy editing; writing samples and/or a brief writing exercise may be requested as part of the interview process
Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:
No license required for this role. Strategic Planning & Alignment
Build and maintain the hospital's strategic marketing plan in partnership with leadership and the marketing agency, ensuring every initiative aligns with organizational goals and operational readiness (capacity, patient experience, and revenue).

Identify and prioritize the service lines and initiatives that will move the needle on the hospital's business goals, rather than spreading effort evenly across every opportunity. Translate strategic priorities into an execution calendar, integrating the agency's tactics — paid campaigns, content, digital, and events — against those priorities. Coordinate with the Finance and Operations teams to keep marketing spend and campaign timing aligned with budget and service-line capacity.

Partner with the Director of Development & Community Relations to build one coordinated content and event calendar — integrating donor storytelling, Georgia HEART promotion, and community-relations priorities alongside hospital-wide marketing initiatives — rather than running two separate plans that happen to touch each other. Monitor performance against KPIs, report progress and return on investment to leadership, and adjust priorities as results and business needs shift.

Tactical Execution & Support
Manage the day-to-day agency relationship and other vendor partners (photographers, printers, media outlets) to keep campaigns on schedule and on brand. Write and produce clear, on-brand content for the hospital's website and social media, and for supporting materials such as brochures, email, ads, and newsletters.

Coordinate community outreach events, media relations, and physician or employee recruitment marketing as priorities require, partnering closely with the Director of Development & Community Relations on any activity tied to Foundation, Georgia HEART, or donor-facing goals. Co-produce donor communications, newsletters, and annual/impact reports with the Director of Development & Community Relations, sharing ownership of accuracy, quality, and deadlines on these materials rather than treating them as a one-way hand-off.

Ensure all marketing activity complies with HIPAA, applicable healthcare regulations, and organizational branding standards. Skill and Competencies
This role is about more than a list of skills — it's about finding the right person: someone who fits these criteria and has the work ethic to grow into it. The ideal candidate brings:
Excellent writing skills — able to write clear, compelling, error-free copy independently across formats (web, social, email, print), and to use AI tools to work faster without lowering the bar on quality.

Critical thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to weigh options and make well-reasoned recommendations. A natural problem-solver who works through obstacles and finds practical solutions rather than getting stuck on them. Creativity — brings fresh ideas to campaigns, content, and events rather than defaulting to what's already been done.

A collaborative mindset — works effectively with physicians, leadership, Finance, Operations, and the hospital's outside agency partner, and functions as a true teammate to the Director of Development & Community Relations, sharing ownership of donor, Georgia HEART, and community-relations content rather than simply executing requests handed down. Analytical ability and a genuine interest in digging into KPIs, website analytics, and social media metrics to spot trends and turn them into action.

Working knowledge of social media platforms and best practices, along with an informed perspective on how AI is changing consumer and patient behavior. A genuine thirst for knowledge and a commitment to continuous learning. The ability to learn quickly and put new information, tools, and strategy into practice under real deadlines. Openness to feedback and coaching, with a track record of using it to improve. An understanding of, or a strong aptitude to quickly learn, the business of healthcare.

A builder who enjoys creating new campaigns, processes, and programs rather than just maintaining what already exists. The drive and follow-through to take ownership of a fast-moving role and see initiatives through to results. This position includes structured onboarding and mentorship, but the Specialist should expect to ramp up quickly, take ownership of day-to-day agency coordination, and stay closely aligned with Finance and Operations throughout the fiscal year.
