Export Manager

Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and inspection of rail depot lifting and handling equipment. They supply innovative, reliable solutions to rail depots and workshops across the UK and international markets.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Export Manager to develop and grow their international customer base. You'll manage key export accounts, identify new business opportunities, build strong customer relationships and support the delivery of profitable sales growth across overseas markets.

This is a customer-facing role involving regular international travel, account management, commercial negotiations, market development and close collaboration with internal engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with international customers and partners.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities in export markets.
• Prepare and follow up quotations, costings and commercial proposals.
• Negotiate sales agreements and contract terms.
• Bid and tender experience would be an advantage.
• Work closely with technical, procurement and production teams to deliver successful projects.
• Attend trade exhibitions, customer meetings and industry events worldwide.
• Deliver presentations and represent the business professionally.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and market intelligence.
• Achieve sales targets and contribute to business growth.
• Ensure compliance with company health, safety and quality standards.

About You

Essential

• Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.
• 4-5 years' experience in sales, account management or customer-facing commercial roles.
• Previous experience in export sales or international account management.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• Organised, commercially minded and able to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable

• Experience within engineering, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Experience working with international distributors, agents or sales partners.
• Knowledge of export markets and international trade practices.
• Fluent in at least one additional European language would be an advantage but not essential.
