Position Overview:
We are seeking a Principal Critical Facility Architect – Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and implementation of critical power systems supporting IT and technology facilities.
This role will lead electrical engineering and architecture for data centers, communication rooms, data/control centers, service centers, and remote communication facilities. The position will oversee both primary and backup power infrastructure, including generators, battery systems, 48 VDC power plants, power boards, facility alarming, and building infrastructure upgrades.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, critical facilities, enterprise technology environments, power systems, and technical architecture, along with proven leadership experience.

The ideal candidate is a California-licensed Electrical Engineer/PE with 10+ years of experience in critical facilities, data centers, telecommunications, utility infrastructure, or enterprise technology environments. They should have hands-on knowledge of electrical power distribution, generators, batteries, backup power, 48 VDC systems, and critical facility infrastructure, combined with strong architecture and technical leadership experience.
Note: This is a Direct Hire / Full-Time position and is best suited for candidates with strong electrical engineering and critical-facility experience rather than candidates with a purely software, network, or traditional IT architecture background.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for critical facility engineering and power system initiatives.
- Lead the architecture and design of electrical power systems supporting IT and technology environments.
- Design and oversee primary and backup power systems, including:
- Generators
- Battery backup systems
- 48 VDC power plants
- Power boards
- Facility alarming systems
- Support electrical design for data centers, communication rooms, offices, service centers, and remote communication locations.
- Develop power system design models, specifications, diagrams, standards, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance throughout the detailed design, build, testing, and deployment phases of projects.
- Work with IT architects, engineering teams, project managers, facilities, real estate, and business stakeholders to develop effective power solutions.
- Evaluate new power-system technologies and develop standards, prototypes, reference architectures, and roadmaps.
- Prepare budgetary estimates and project scopes for power system initiatives.
- Present project scope, budget, technical recommendations, and implementation strategies to senior leadership.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Identify and implement process improvements across the department.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to engineering and technical team members.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects and provide technical direction to project and engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in IT engineering design and/or technical project implementation.
- California Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) strongly required.
- Experience working within multi-tier enterprise technology environments.
- Experience with enterprise architecture and technical design.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and critical facility infrastructure.
- Experience with primary and backup power systems, generators, batteries, UPS/power systems, or 48 VDC power plants.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to lead engineering/project teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with radio systems implementation.
- Experience with IT project management.
- PMP certification.
- Experience developing technical standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and technology roadmaps.
- Experience managing complex, large-scale, cross-functional infrastructure projects.
- Experience coaching and mentoring technical professionals.
