Hours:     37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

At Crookhey Hall, great teaching starts with relationships. You’ll have the opportunity to understand what motivates each young person, adapt learning around their individual needs and create lessons that rebuild confidence and curiosity.

This is a role where progress can take many forms. Alongside academic achievement, you’ll help young people develop resilience, independence and a more positive relationship with education. Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you’ll have the freedom to bring creativity and personality to your teaching while making a difference you can see.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging and meaningful lessons that inspire young people to participate and achieve
• Adapt teaching, resources and activities around different abilities, needs and learning styles
• Build positive and trusting relationships that help young people feel safe, understood and ready to learn
• Create practical and memorable learning experiences that develop curiosity, confidence and independence
• Support young people with SEMH, Autism and behaviours that may challenge, using calm and consistent approaches
• Monitor progress and use your understanding of individual needs to shape future learning
• Work collaboratively with the Deputy Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and wider school team to achieve positive outcomes
• Contribute to a nurturing school culture where every young person is encouraged to recognise their strengths and potential

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a teacher who combines strong classroom practice with empathy, creativity and resilience.

You’ll bring:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or Autism
• Confidence supporting behaviours that may challenge and adapting your approach when necessary
• Strong classroom practice and the ability to make learning engaging and accessible
• A genuine belief that every young person can make progress with the right support
• A proactive and resilient approach, with a strong commitment to safeguarding
• The ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a supportive school team
• A commitment to your own continued professional development
• A full UK driving licence

Experience supporting young people from challenging backgrounds and evidence of improving educational outcomes would also be beneficial.

About Us

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School which caters for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years of age. We provide young people with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic and vocational social skills and abilities but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. In this way it is hoped that each individual will aspire to achieve their full potential, eventually leaving school with the determination to make a positive contribution to society in the years to come.

Crookhey Hall School has a 15-acre setting in countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving licence.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each students potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment.
