Salary:     £48,090 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours:     40 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

As New Barn School continues to grow, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at River View House, supporting students across the secondary age range.

This is an opportunity to teach in a way that recognises that every student learns differently. You’ll have the flexibility to adapt lessons, remove barriers to learning and create meaningful experiences that help students develop academically, socially and emotionally.

You’ll work with students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs. By building strong relationships and understanding what motivates each individual, you’ll help students develop the confidence, resilience and independence they need for their future.

What you'll be doing

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across the secondary curriculum, adapting learning around individual needs
• Create a structured, supportive and inclusive classroom where students feel safe, understood and ready to learn
• Adapt teaching strategies, resources and assessment methods to make learning accessible and meaningful
• Develop and review individual education plans and targets that support academic and personal development
• Monitor and assess progress, using outcomes to shape future teaching and appropriate interventions
• Support students with their social, emotional and behavioural development, building confidence and resilience
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, families, colleagues and specialist professionals to provide consistent support
• Help students develop independence, life skills and confidence, preparing them for their next stage of education and future pathways

About You

We’re looking for a teacher who can see the potential behind every challenge and adapt their approach to help each student succeed.

You’ll bring:

• UK QTS or equivalent and a relevant degree, although applications from experienced non qualified teachers will also be considered
• Experience and confidence supporting students with SEN, including Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs
• The ability to adapt teaching and curriculum content around different learning styles and individual needs
• A compassionate and resilient approach, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students who may have experienced significant barriers to education
• Creativity and flexibility when traditional teaching approaches are not working
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, families and other professionals
• A commitment to safeguarding and creating positive outcomes for every student
• A full UK driving licence
