Job Title: Senior AI Engineer: Generative AI, Agentic AI & RAG
Company: Nimara Ventures, Inc. Location: Remote (US-based). 3-4 hours overlap with US Eastern/Central hours Employment Type: Contract, long-term (W2, C2C or 1099) Pay Rate: [$45-$50/hr C2C] · [$50-$55/hr W2]
About the Role Nimara Ventures places senior AI, DevOps and product engineers with US companies. We’re looking for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer to design, build and ship production-grade Generative AI, RAG and agentic systems for client engagements. You’ll work directly with client stakeholders, own architecture decisions, and may guide a small team of engineers.
What You’ll Do

Design and deliver end-to-end RAG systems, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval and evaluation
Build agentic workflows and stateful multi-agent systems using LangGraph, LangChain or LlamaIndex
Develop LLM-powered automation that integrates with client systems such as CRMs, internal data sources and APIs
Build AI analytics assistants that answer natural-language business questions
Productionize models with MLOps/LLMOps practices: deployment, monitoring, retraining and evaluation
Gather requirements from client stakeholders and turn them into architecture and delivery plans
Mentor and technically guide a small team (up to ~6 engineers) and review designs and code
Write clear technical documentation and communicate progress to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

7+ years in software engineering, data science or ML, with 2+ years building production LLM/RAG applications
Strong Python; experience with FastAPI or Flask
Hands-on with LangChain, LangGraph or LlamaIndex
Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, Qdrant or similar) and embeddings
Experience deploying on AWS or Azure
Solid ML fundamentals (classification, regression, NLP) and SQL
Strong written and verbal communication, and comfort working directly with clients

Preferred

MCP, tool/function calling, A2A, hybrid search, reranking
LLM evaluation (RAGAS, LLM-as-a-judge)
MLOps tooling: MLflow, Docker, Airflow, GitHub Actions, DVC
Computer vision, NER or transformer fine-tuning (e.g., BERT)
Kubernetes experience
Prior experience leading or mentoring small teams
