Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.

Amsterdam or London | Reports to Senior Director, Product

The opportunity

Checkout.com helps businesses thrive in the digital economy by making payments work better. Fraud is central to that mission: we need to protect our merchants and Checkout without blocking good customers or adding unnecessary friction.

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead the fraud domain across Payment Performance. You will own the strategy for building our fraud engine with real-time models, controls and decisioning capabilities that protect Checkout and the products built on top of it.

The ambition is to build a best-in-class fraud platform: one that performs at the highest level, adapts as fraud changes and works equally well for merchants as it does to protect Checkout. Protecting Checkout from fraud has significant value for the overall payment performance,

This is a portfolio leadership role. You will lead several Product Managers, co-own the Fraud Data Science roadmap and work closely with Engineering, Analytics, Fraud Operations and Design. You will also spend time with some of the world’s most sophisticated merchants to understand their fraud challenges, prove value and shape what we build next.

What you’ll do

Set the fraud strategy

  • Create one product vision and roadmap across merchant fraud products, real-time decisioning and Checkout-wide protection.

  • Decide where we need to close core gaps and where we can build differentiated capabilities that change the basis of competition.

  • Balance merchant fraud, Checkout losses, acceptance impact, FDP revenue and operational effort when setting priorities.

  • Define how our fraud capabilities should support Enterprise merchants, Platforms, SMBs and other Checkout products as their needs evolve.

Build a best-in-class fraud platform

  • Improve the performance, coverage and resilience of our real-time fraud decisioning.

  • Build products that let merchants choose the right level of control: configure their own protection, act on intelligent recommendations or delegate decisions to Autopilot.

  • Build a platform that enables our internal teams to investigate and respond to fraud trends and fraud attacks, then turn this into better protection for Checkout and our merchants

  • Strengthen how merchants monitor, explain and improve fraud decisions through better controls, recommendations, alerting and investigation experiences.

  • Expand protection against new fraud types using better data, specialized models and faster learning loops.

Shape Product and Data Science together

  • Co-own the Fraud Data Science roadmap and outcome metrics with the Data Science leader.

  • Ensure Product chooses the right problems, customer outcomes and trade-offs while Data Science owns methods, model quality and scientific rigor.

  • Connect model performance and platform investment to visible merchant and business outcomes.

  • Build the feedback loops between models, merchant products, analytics and operations that allow our protection to keep improving.

  • Guide investment toward capabilities that improve fraud performance at scale, not technical progress in isolation.

Grow the portfolio and its value

  • Own the product economics of the fraud portfolio, including value measurement, investment cases, adoption strategy and input into packaging and pricing.

  • Partner with teams across Checkout include Commercial and Product Marketing to turn complex fraud capabilities into a clear merchant proposition.

  • Build credible ways to demonstrate the value of our fraud products before and after launch.

  • Work with Risk Operations to define clear boundaries, handovers and feedback loops between automated transaction decisions and account-level operations.

Lead the team

  • Lead, coach and develop Product Managers across the fraud portfolio.

  • Give teams clear ownership, goals and decision rights while building a strong shared purpose.

  • Create an effective operating model across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Design and Fraud Operations.

  • Align senior stakeholders around evidence-based priorities, investment choices and trade-offs.

What success looks like

In your first 12–18 months, you will have:

  • United FDP, Autopilot, core fraud decisioning and Checkout protection behind one strategy, metric framework and roadmap.

  • Improved measurable fraud performance while managing the impact on acceptance, Checkout losses and operational effort.

  • Closed priority product gaps and made the merchant fraud experience more competitive and coherent.

  • Established a stronger joint operating model across Product, Data Science, Engineering and Fraud Operations.

  • Built a high-performing team of Product Managers with clear accountability across the fraud domain.

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Deep experience building fraud or risk products in payments, fintech, commerce or another high-volume decisioning environment.

  • Strong understanding of fraud models, rules, controls and the trade-offs between fraud prevention, false positives and customer experience.

  • A track record of setting strategy and delivering outcomes across multiple related products or teams.

  • Proven success leading and developing Product Managers.

  • The ability to bring clarity and structure to complex, ambiguous problem spaces.

  • Strong quantitative judgment and experience using model performance, experimentation and financial analysis to make decisions.

  • Credibility with Engineering and Data Science teams building real-time, ML-powered products.

  • Commercial judgment and the ability to connect technical capabilities to customer value, adoption and sustainable business outcomes.

  • Clear, persuasive communication with merchants, teams and senior executives.

We care more about the scope of the problems you have solved and the outcomes you have delivered than a fixed number of years in a particular title.

Valuable, but not required

  • Experience building adaptive or automated fraud products such as dynamic strategies or recommendations.

  • Knowledge of fraud operations, investigations, disputes and the handoffs between automated and human decisions.

  • Experience supporting multiple merchant segments, platforms or embedded payment products.

  • Experience shaping packaging, pricing or value-based commercial models for fraud products.
