Level 1 & 2 Data Center Technicians
Precision Tradecraft | A Division of Odyssey Information Services
Precision Tradecraft, the skilled trades and technical workforce division of Odyssey Information Services, is hiring multiple Data Center Technicians at varying experience levels to support a large-scale data center project.
We are currently seeking Data Center Technicians with previous hands-on data center, hardware deployment, rack-and-stack or related technical experience. This role is designed for technicians who can work independently, follow established processes, troubleshoot basic issues and help support less-experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, inventory and document boards, chassis and other data center equipment
- Identify and escalate damaged, missing or incorrect equipment
- Perform ECU flashing/firmware updates following established procedures
- Monitor pass/fail results and troubleshoot basic equipment failures
- Install 2U rack-mounted equipment, including rails, cage nuts and cable management arms
- Connect and verify RJ45, power and related cabling
- Follow cable labeling, color-coding and cable-management standards
- Perform quality checks on rack installation, equipment placement and cabling
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, power, connectivity and installation issues
- Follow ESD procedures and data center safety requirements
- Maintain accurate equipment, installation and flashing documentation
- Communicate recurring equipment or workflow issues to project leads
- Assist with training and task guidance for Level 1 technicians
- Maintain a safe, organized and efficient work environment
Qualifications
- Previous data center, hardware deployment or rack-and-stack experience
- Ability to independently install rack-mounted equipment and perform basic cabling
- Basic hardware, power and network connectivity troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with ECU flashing, firmware updates or similar processes preferred
- Understanding of ESD and proper equipment-handling procedures
- Ability to follow technical instructions, checklists and repeatable processes accurately
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Dependable attendance and ability to work in a high-volume, project-based environment
- Strong communication skills and willingness to assist junior technicians
Multiple Levels Available
Precision Tradecraft is building a larger data center project team and is interested in technicians across multiple experience levels. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Level 1 opportunities, while technicians with stronger data center and leadership experience may be considered for more advanced positions.
