Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to provide onsite support for local server hardware installation, maintenance, and ongoing infrastructure support in the downtown Chicago market. This role is focused on sustaining operational stability, resolving hardware and system issues, and supporting day-to-day server administration activities in a reliable and responsive manner. The engagement is best suited for a professional who can operate independently, support time sensitive requests, and maintain a disciplined focus on service continuity.

Contract terms: 6 to 12 months

Location: Downtown Chicago, Illinois, onsite support required

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of local server hardware
  • Support Windows and Unix based systems, virtualization platforms, and related infrastructure components
  • Conduct server builds, system updates, patching, backups, and recovery activities
  • Monitor system health, performance, availability, and security controls
  • Resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner
  • Support data protection, access management, and secure operating practices
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, incidents, maintenance actions, and support procedures
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to support service delivery and issue resolution
  • Provide onsite and after-hours support when required, including weekends or holidays as needed
  • Assist with implementation of operational standards, support processes, and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator supporting server hardware and infrastructure environments
  • Hands on experience with local server installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support
  • Strong proficiency in Windows server administration, with working knowledge of Unix or Linux environments
  • Experience with virtualization, backups, patching, and system recovery
  • Working knowledge of networking, firewalls, and infrastructure security practices
  • Ability to work onsite in downtown Chicago and respond to operational support needs
  • Strong problem solving, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently in a high accountability support role

Must need Certification : Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent
  • Cisco networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP
  • Experience supporting server environments in enterprise or consulting settings
  • Familiarity with change control, incident management, and technology governance
  • Experience supporting after-hours coverage and urgent operational requests
