Junior Network Engineer with Security Clearance

Piper Companies is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to join a rapidly growing technology organization in the Durham, NC area. This individual will play a key role in supporting network operations, maintaining infrastructure, and managing on-premises environments within a hybrid setting. The Junior Network Engineer position is a great fit for someone with foundational systems administration experience who is looking to expand their networking skills and grow within an enterprise environment.

This opportunity starts as a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension and the possibility of converting to a full-time employee based on performance and business needs. The role follows a hybrid schedule, requiring 2 days per week onsite in RTP (Research Triangle Park), with the remaining days working remotely. Responsibilities of the Junior Network Engineer:

• Perform network support and maintenance tasks, including patching, cabling, and Layer 1 troubleshooting.
• Assist with the administration and upkeep of on-premises network infrastructure and connectivity services.
• Support the deployment and integration of cloud service provider (CSP) solutions in a hybrid environment.
• Diagnose and resolve network, hardware, and connectivity issues across various technologies and locations.
• Partner with infrastructure and systems teams to maintain network stability and performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and system updates.
• Provide hands-on assistance with network equipment installations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications of the Junior Network Engineer:

• Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
• 2+ years of experience in network support, systems administration, or network engineering.
• Experience with Layer 1 networking, cabling, patching, and physical infrastructure support.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities across network and infrastructure environments.
• Background supporting on-premises systems with exposure to hybrid cloud technologies.
• CCNA certification or equivalent networking experience required.
• Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and enterprise networking principles.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Compensation for the Junior Network Engineer Includes:

• Base salary of $90,000 - $115,000, depending on experience
