Job Description
Title: Business Analyst Portfolio Management and Trade
Type: 6-month contract + conversion to Fulltime
Location: Toronto, ON- Hybrid - 4x'/week on-site (Monday to Thursday- In-person)
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $90-$95/hour
Interview Process: 2 Rounds
Key responsibilities:
- Analyze the existing monolithic PMS and assist in breaking it into microservices
- Map portfolio management workflows into clear technical and functional requirement
- Document system flows, processes, functional specs, and acceptance criteria
- Validate investment workflows, including rebalancing, corporate actions, and trade lifecycle
- Ensure developers have accurate, actionable requirements for feature development
- Work with the lead BA to align requirements across related application
- Eventually collaborate with portfolio managers, operations, or stakeholders as the role evolves
- Support future enhancements and system stability as microservices mature
Must-Haves:
- Portfolio Management Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of portfolio management workflows, including: Rebalancing, Corporate actions, Daily portfolio operations, Trade workflows
- Experience with Charles River (CRD) or similar OMS/PMS tools: Exposure is acceptable; deep CRD technical mastery not required
- Build or support an in-house PMS is plus
- Ability to work closely with developers and understand technical concepts
- Experience writing: Functional requirements, User stories, Process flows, Acceptance criteria
- Ability to interpret workflows without constantly relying on PMs to define what s already built
- Experience supporting large-scale system changes or modernizations
Nice-to-Haves:
- Technical background (APIs, system design basics, data flow understanding)
- Experience working in a microservices environment
- Experience with capital markets systems beyond PMS (OMS, risk, trading platforms)
