Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Information Security Analyst 1 to support Security Operations Center (SOC) activities within their cybersecurity team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing security threats in real time, identifying potential vulnerabilities, investigating alerts, and supporting the response to security incidents.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, hands-on experience with security monitoring tools, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced security environment while collaborating with other security and IT professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor network traffic, system logs, SIEM platforms, endpoint security tools, and other security technologies for unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Identify, categorize, and respond to security incidents, including malware infections, potential data breaches, insider threats, and other cybersecurity events.
  • Triage security alerts, assess severity and potential impact, and prioritize response activities accordingly.
  • Investigate security incidents and support containment, mitigation, remediation, and resolution efforts.
  • Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and threat intelligence.
  • Conduct proactive threat-hunting activities across SIEM and EDR platforms.
  • Analyze logs from firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus solutions, endpoints, and other security sources to identify patterns and anomalies.
  • Operate and manage security technologies, including SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, firewalls, PKI management solutions, and endpoint security platforms.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security incidents, investigations, findings, and remediation activities.
  • Support compliance with applicable security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT teams to investigate and resolve security issues.
  • Assist with improving security processes and developing new detection, monitoring, and prevention rules.
  • Use scripting and automation, including Python or PowerShell, to improve security operations where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a cybersecurity, information security, SOC, or related security role.
  • Strong understanding of IT fundamentals, including operating systems, networking concepts, network protocols, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Hands-on experience with security technologies such as SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, firewalls, antivirus solutions, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.
  • Experience analyzing security logs and identifying suspicious patterns, anomalies, and potential threats.
  • Knowledge of security incident detection, investigation, and response processes.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity threat intelligence, common attack patterns, and tactics used by threat actors.
  • Basic understanding of computer forensics and its application to security incident investigations.
  • Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting technologies for automation and security-related tasks.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to evolving cybersecurity threats and changing security priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience conducting proactive threat hunting using SIEM and EDR platforms.
  • Experience supporting security operations in a fast-paced SOC environment.
