Network Security Engineer (Remote)

A financial services organization is seeking a Network Security Engineer for a fully remote opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including configurations, upgrades, patches, and ongoing support


• Develop, maintain, and optimize firewall security policies and rules


• Convert Layer 4 firewall rules to Layer 7 application-aware rules using Palo Alto User-ID and App-ID


• Troubleshoot firewall, network, and connectivity issues to support security, performance, and reliability


• Support network security infrastructure and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement secure connectivity solutions

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls


• Strong understanding of Layer 4 and Layer 7 firewall security


• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto User-ID and App-ID


• Experience creating and managing custom App-ID configurations


• Experience managing Palo Alto infrastructure, including upgrades, patches, and configurations


• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, devices, and infrastructure


• Experience with firewalls, routers, VPNs, and network monitoring tools


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


• Strong communication and collaboration skills


• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Desired Skills:

• Experience managing Check Point firewalls in an IaaS environment


• Experience deploying Palo Alto firewalls in an IaaS environment


• Experience working with cloud/IaaS network security infrastructure


• Experience using Python scripting to automate network administration or firewall tasks


• Experience with network automation and configuration management tools
