Job Description

Role Overview

Hands-on network engineer responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimization of enterprise network platforms. This role focuses on day-to-day engineering, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of data center and remote connectivity networks, with deep practical experience in Cisco ACI, Nexus switching, packet analysis, network automation, and telemetry-driven operations.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

1. Operate and Engineer Network Platforms

Build, configure, operate, and support enterprise network infrastructure with a robust hands-on focus, including Cisco ACI fabrics, Nexus switching platforms, and

associated data center networking components.

2. Cisco ACI Engineering & Operations

Implement and maintain ACI policies, tenants, VRFs, bridge domains, endpoint groups (EPGs), contracts, and integrations with external networks. Perform fabric

health checks, upgrades, and troubleshooting of control-plane and data-plane issues.

3. Nexus Switching & Data Center Networking

Engineer and support Cisco Nexus platforms (standalone and fabric-based), including routing, switching, multicast, VXLAN, and high-availability designs. Perform

configuration changes, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.

4. Packet Capture & Deep Troubleshooting

Understanding of packet broker solutions to be able to perform packet-level analysis using tools such as SPAN, ERSPAN, fabric-level captures, and third-party capture

solutions to diagnose complex latency, loss, and application connectivity issues across on-prem and hybrid environments.

5. Remote Connectivity & Access Networks

Engineer and support remote connectivity solutions including VPN, secure access, and hybrid connectivity models. Troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity issues

spanning users, data centers, and cloud environments.

6. Network Automation

Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and APIs to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and accelerate delivery. Automate configuration

deployment, validation, and operational tasks across network platforms.

7. Telemetry & Observability

Leverage network telemetry, streaming data, and monitoring platforms to proactively identify issues, analyze trends, and improve network reliability and performance.

Integrate telemetry with logging and analytics tools for operational insight.

8. Incident Response & Operational Excellence

Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews. Drive corrective actions to improve resilience, reduce recurrence, and strengthen

operational processes.

9. Change & Lifecycle Management

Execute network changes following established change management practices. Perform upgrades, migrations, and decommissions while minimizing risk and

customer impact.

10. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

Work closely with application teams, security, cloud, and infrastructure partners to deliver reliable connectivity. Document designs, configurations, and operational

runbooks; mentor junior engineers as appropriate.

11. Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to simplify architecture, reduce technical debt, and modernize network platforms through automation, standardization, and telemetry-driven

insights.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on network engineering experience in enterprise environments.
  • Robust practical experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco Nexus switching platforms.
  • Proven ability to perform packet broker, capture and protocol-level troubleshooting in complex networks.
  • Experience supporting remote connectivity solutions (VPN, secure access, hybrid connectivity).
  • Working knowledge of network automation using scripting languages, APIs, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Experience using network telemetry, monitoring, and observability tools to drive operational insight.
  • Solid understanding of routing, switching, security, and high-availability network designs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-domain network issues end to end.
  • Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
