Indirect Tax Manager - Morgan McKinley

An opportunity to join a well-established Indirect Tax team within a leading Top 10 UK accountancy practice. This Manager role is advisory-focused, offering exposure to a broad range of VAT issues, interesting client work and the opportunity to work closely with experienced Senior Managers, Directors and Partners. You'll be involved in varied VAT advisory projects, helping clients navigate complex and evolving indirect tax matters while continuing to build your technical, commercial and client-facing experience.
You'll work across a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering practical VAT advice and taking increasing ownership of advisory engagements. The role provides a strong balance of technical work, client interaction and team development, with a clear platform to progress towards Senior Manager.
Key Responsibilities

• Deliver VAT advisory work across a varied client portfolio, providing practical and commercially focused advice.
• Support on complex VAT matters, applying UK legislation and case law to real-world business scenarios.
• Manage VAT engagements from initial scoping through to delivery, ensuring work is technically accurate and commercially relevant.
• Draft clear, well-structured technical advice and reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a day-to-day contact across engagements.
• Review work and support the development of junior team members, providing technical guidance and coaching.
• Work closely with Senior Managers, Directors and Partners on larger and more complex advisory projects.
• Identify opportunities to broaden client relationships and contribute to the wider growth of the VAT practice.

About You

• Solid UK VAT / Indirect Tax experience gained in practice, advisory or in-house.
• Experience working on VAT advisory matters with a good understanding of UK VAT legislation.
• Comfortable managing multiple engagements, priorities and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
• Experience reviewing junior team members' work and supporting their development.
• Commercially minded, collaborative and confident working directly with clients.
• A genuine interest in developing your advisory experience and progressing within Indirect Tax.
