Job Title: Microsoft 365 Developer (AI-Assisted Development)

About the role
Client builds internal tools on Microsoft 365, using GitHub Copilot and AI coding agents to speed up development. This developer will lever Github Copilot to build and support, extend, and run these solutions. They will sit with the IT Business Partner and Functional users from Business to understand the requirements, come up with proposed solution, develop the proposed design and solution into browser-based application leveraging Github Copilot. Prompt AI to build the application based on the standard design and the documented requirements. Review AI generated code, Test, Coordinate UAT with business functional users and deploy AI-generated code, connect it to our business systems, and keep it secure and reliable in production.
AI-assisted Development
  • Use GitHub Copilot (chat, agent mode, and the coding agent) to plan, build, and refactor solutions.
  • Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability before it is merged.
  • Maintain the repository's Copilot instructions, skills, and open-items documents so AI agents have accurate context across sessions.
  • Write clear specifications and acceptance criteria that AI agents and people can both work from.
Quality, deployment, and operations
  • Run and extend automated tests and builds where applicable. Set up CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Package and deploy solutions to the SharePoint App Catalog, Teams, and Copilot. Manage dev, test, and production environments.
  • Monitor scheduled jobs and flows (logs, exit codes, failure alerts), fix problems, and coordinate fixes with IT.
  • Manage app registrations, certificates, and permissions (Sites.Selected, Graph scopes) with the M365 administrators.
Collaboration and support
  • Work with business users, IT Business Partner, and data owners to gather requirements and turn them into specifications.
  • Coordinate with Infrastructure team to set up and host the application on the Production, QA and DEV environments. Collaborate with other cross functional teams, and with the cyber security and privacy teams on reviews, including GDPR for EU sites.
  • Write and maintain user, admin, and runbook documentation, and support pilots and user training.
  • Handle second- and third-line support for the business applications they own.

Preferred qualifications
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility: declarative agents, the Teams Toolkit / Microsoft 365 Agents Toolkit, and API plugins.
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, least-privilege design, and data privacy rules (GDPR).

Required skills
  • Takes ownership of solutions from requirements through to production support.
  • Writes clearly, both specifications for AI agents and documentation for users.
  • Can turn non-technical business problems into simple, maintainable solutions.
  • Comfortable working on their own in a small IT team with several stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Python, SQL, PowerShell, PowerAutomate, Hands-on experience with SPFx, TypeScript, React, and Node.js tooling (npm, Heft/Gulp, webpack).
  • Development experience with Git and GitHub (branches, pull requests, code review) and experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph, Entra ID (app registrations, certificate auth, API permissions), and SharePoint lists and permissions.
