RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Nightshift Installation Supervisor in Austin, TX.

Summary

Our client is seeking a Night Shift Manufacturing Engineer/Installation Supervisor to support the installation, implementation, and optimization of automated material handling systems across manufacturing operations. This role goes well beyond traditional installation supervision and is ideal for candidates with engineering, automation, and project management experience who can independently drive complex manufacturing projects from installation through production handoff.

The successful candidate will support high-impact automation initiatives involving conveyors, robotics, AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), ASRS systems, shuttle systems, and other automated material flow technologies. This individual will work directly with engineering leadership and play a key role in design reviews, field troubleshooting, project execution, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support installation activities for automated material handling systems
  • Oversee contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers during implementation
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and installation milestones
  • Identify and resolve field issues while maintaining project timelines
  • Escalate technical and operational concerns when necessary
  • Conduct AutoCAD drawing reviews and layout validation
  • Support mechanical design reviews and engineering change implementation
  • Evaluate equipment layouts, space utilization, and material flow concepts
  • Coordinate with design, manufacturing, controls, and operations teams
  • Assist with concept development for future automation projects
  • Create layouts and support business case development for capital projects
  • Present recommendations and project updates to engineering leadership
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased automation efficiency
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 2-8 years of experience in manufacturing, automation, industrial engineering, material handling, or related environments
  • Experience managing installation, implementation, or manufacturing engineering projects
  • Understanding of automated material handling systems such as: Conveyors; Robotics; AMRs; ASRS; Shuttle Systems; Automated Manufacturing Equipment
  • Strong AutoCAD proficiency with the ability to independently navigate and review drawings
  • Strong project management skills including scope, schedule, and budget management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proven problem-solving capability with the ability to make independent decisions in fast-paced manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within automotive manufacturing environments
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA, or other 3D CAD platforms
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and equipment launches
  • Exposure to automated warehouses, fulfillment centers, or industrial automation systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or project scheduling tools
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Material Handling Engineer, or Automation Engineer
  • Experience supporting installation and deployment of automated manufacturing systems
  • Comfortable working independently and making decisions in the field
  • Able to balance engineering responsibilities with hands-on project execution
  • Interested in growing into broader engineering and project leadership roles
Work Schedule:
  • Night Shift (approximately 6:00 PM - 5:00 AM)
  • Typical workload of 50-60+ hours per week
  • 5-6 days per week during peak installation periods
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
