Job Description

Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

*Must be located/authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship or transfer now or in the future. No C2C inquiries, please*

Our client is a private wealth and multi-asset investment management firm overseeing a portfolio across public and private markets, real estate, and alternative investments. Operating with the agility of a boutique office alongside institutional-grade standards, the firm places critical emphasis on operational resilience, data privacy, and technological infrastructure across its corporate and executive operations.

As the Senior Systems Administrator, you will step in as a hands-on technical co-owner of the firm's core IT infrastructure and daily operations. Working in close collaboration with the Head of IT and a senior systems peer, you will serve as the operational bridge between strategic planning and on-the-ground execution across a hybrid Microsoft ecosystem. This role is designed for a senior engineer who thrives on complete environment ownership-taking charge of enterprise systems projects, standardizing runbooks, optimizing cloud and on-premises platforms, and providing high-touch technical leadership across all corporate and principal touchpoints.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of progressive infrastructure engineering and systems administration experience, ideally within financial services, private equity, or similarly demanding environments.
  • Deep technical mastery of Windows Server components, including Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, WSUS, and Hyper-V.
  • Extensive hands-on experience managing Microsoft cloud services, specifically Microsoft 365, Azure networking, storage, virtual machines, and enterprise application integrations.
  • Proven track record architecting and maintaining hybrid AD configurations, multi-site/multi-domain forests, and endpoint management across Windows 10/11 environments.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills, particularly with PowerShell, to streamline administrative workflows and systems maintenance.
  • Solid working knowledge of enterprise networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, Aruba Wi-Fi) and security frameworks (SOC 2 and financial services controls).
  • Familiarity with cross-platform and multi-cloud environments, including Linux administration (Debian/Fedora), AWS/Google Cloud Platform, and Google Workspace.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of industry certifications and enterprise experience.
Responsibilities
  • Own the day-to-day administration, availability, and optimization of the firm's enterprise Windows infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Partner directly with the Head of IT and senior infrastructure team members to design, deploy, and maintain scalable systems across all corporate facilities.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, managing identity governance, role-based access controls, storage, and virtual networking.
  • Formulate and maintain operational standard operating procedures (SOPs), comprehensive runbooks, and proactive monitoring tools to prevent recurring issues.
  • Deliver white-glove, high-touch support for corporate end-users and executive principals, addressing complex technical escalations across office and residential technologies.
  • Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity protocols to safeguard mission-critical data and operations.
  • Enforce endpoint management and device security solutions to align with regulatory compliance and institutional audit requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call escalation rotation to maintain system reliability for executive and trading functions.

This role provides a competitive compensation package featuring a base salary range of $160,000 to $180,000, an annual discretionary performance bonus, and comprehensive healthcare and retirement benefits. The position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule based out of the firm's New York office, fostering a high-trust, collaborative culture where autonomy, operational excellence, and direct technical impact are highly valued.
