Role: Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Location: Mountain View, CA - Need only locals to Bay Area, CA

Experience Level: 8+ Years

Domain: Enterprise Cloud Reliability, SRE, and Platform Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to drive operational excellence and reliability for mission-critical distributed systems running on AWS. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring five-nines (99.999%) availability for millions of small business users by designing resilient cloud-native data platforms, automating production workflows, embedding AIOps into triage operations, and leading high-impact incident mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Multi-9 Reliability: Own always-on reliability at enterprise scale; sustain five-nines availability across multi-tenant distributed systems on AWS.
  • Architect Cloud-Native Systems: Design scalable, highly available, and secure infrastructure capable of supporting multi-million-user workloads.
  • Advance AIOps & Automation: Design and deploy AI-driven mechanisms for automated issue detection, intelligent triage, and self-healing remediation to relentlessly eliminate operational toil.
  • Incident Response & Operations: Participate in the on-call rotation to lead major incident engagements, resolve production bottlenecks, and conduct rigorous Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
  • Chaos Engineering & Resiliency: Formulate disaster recovery runbooks, implement Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and conduct chaos engineering exercises to validate fault tolerance.
  • Enterprise Observability: Drive lower MTTD and MTTR by building modern observability pipelines using metric instrumentation, log aggregation, and distributed tracing.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Partner across organizational boundaries to drive standard paved-road platform adoption, eliminate architectural debt, and participate actively in technology evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years of hands-on software development and systems operations experience managing cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Advanced expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, GitOps delivery patterns, and multi-region DR architectures.
  • Software Engineering: Strong proficiency in at least one modern language (Go, Java, Python, or Ruby) for building automation scripts, platform tooling, and backend services.
  • Observability Tooling: Deep hands-on experience configuring and analyzing telemetry using Splunk, Wavefront, Prometheus, AppDynamics, Grafana, or distributed tracing tools.
  • CI/CD & Security: Proven ability to build and harden automated SSDLC pipelines (CI/CD) with automated gating and deployment verification.

Diagnostic Leadership: Sharp, calm troubleshooting skills for resolving critical P1/P2 production incidents under pressure
