Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced a Sr Project Manager Google Cloud Platform to lead day-to-day delivery for a cloud platform team. This individual will own Jira backlog management, Agile ceremonies, cross-functional coordination, and operational execution across multiple technical workstreams. The ideal candidate has strong cloud project management experience, preferably with Google Cloud Platform, and can proactively identify risks, dependencies, and misalignment across technical teams. This role requires someone who can operate independently, drive accountability, and confidently manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.

Responsibilities
  • Fully own Jira workflows — backlog ticket creation, refinement, updates, and backlog hygiene for Brandon's platform team.
  • Prepare for and run all platform team rituals: daily standups, platform office hours, working sessions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Proactively identify and escalate misalignments — catching gaps between platform, EA, InfoSec, and application teams and escalating to Brandon and Laci without waiting for direction.
  • Run all weekly project connection meetings/recurring touchpoints with application teams to track progress, surface risks, and maintain alignment.
  • Own operational delivery end-to-end: consolidate risks/issues, manage dependencies, and drive day-to-day execution with the platform team without requiring handholding.
  • Own the Cloud Platform Foundation workstream specifically — the "build the road" foundational work (e.g., environment stand-up) that application development teams will build on top of — as distinct from the separate Developer Platform/CI-CD workstream, which is owned by another PM.
  • Help prioritize work and run Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming and story point scoring.
  • Escalate only when true tradeoffs or decisions are required — this role is intended to free up Laci and Brandon to focus on strategic leadership (steering committee decisions, portfolio-level timeline/tradeoff enforcement, quarterly planning, program governance) rather than day-to-day execution.
     
Must Haves:
  • 5–7+ years of experience in the PMO space (project/program management), with a strong, proven delivery track record on cross-functional projects.
  • Solid Scrum Master experience/fluency (running standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, story pointing) paired with strong core project management skills.
  • Prior experience specifically managing cloud projects (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
  • Comfortable pushing back and enforcing accountability with technical and cross-functional stakeholders; able to operate independently without waiting for direction.
  • Able to operate independently across active projects/workstreams that could surface involvement at any given moment
  • Strong backlog and Jira ownership experience — ticket creation, refinement, updates, and backlog hygiene.
    • Mature, self-directed operator who can hit the ground running in a high-visibility, high-stress, evolving environment (client explicitly wants someone who does not need to be told what to do next).
     
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Formal Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, etc.).
  • Actual hands-on technical experience with Google Cloud Platform or cloud infrastructure
  • Prior experience specifically with Google Cloud Platform foundation/landing-zone-style build-out work
