Backend API Developer Job Description Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Backend API Developer with strong expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and microservices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Java/Spring Boot, cloud-native architectures, containerization, event-driven systems, and CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend microservices.
• Build scalable, resilient, and secure API-driven applications.
• Develop event-driven solutions using messaging platforms such as Kafka.
• Design and implement API security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
• Create and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, and optimized queries.
• Deploy and manage applications in cloud and Kubernetes environments.
• Implement caching strategies using Redis or Memcached to improve performance.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Owners, and Architects in Agile teams.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and production support.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline automation and platform observability.

Required Experience

• 5 10+ years of backend application development experience.
• Proven experience building enterprise-grade APIs and microservices.
• Experience with cloud-native deployments and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability patterns.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Enterprise Platforms.
• Knowledge of API management platforms such as Apigee.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and performance optimization.
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled platforms and modern cloud services.
