Tier 1 Network Monitor
Location: Hampton, Virginia, Langley AFB
Work Arrangement: Fully On-Site
Type: 6-month contract-to-hire with client
Pay: Up to $32/hr
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week. New hires will initially work a Monday through Thursday day shift. After approximately four months on contract, employees will begin rotating monthly between weekday and weekend schedules. Flexibility for overnight coverage is required as needed.
Role Overview
This position supports the 24/7 operations of a client's global enterprise network. The Tier 1 Network Monitor will join a team responsible for mission management and network operations, providing Tier 1 network monitoring, operational support, troubleshooting, and help desk services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fault management to detect, isolate, and correct network and system anomalies on a 24/7 basis.
• Monitor network nodes for operational integrity and respond to trouble calls.
• Initiate and maintain trouble tickets and logs to document anomalies and corrective actions.
• Populate and review trouble logs for troubleshooting and to capture metrics for trend analysis.
• Provide technical support to resolve problems or escalate issues to the appropriate level.
• Monitor and administer network tools for troubleshooting and performance analysis.
• Log network issues using the approved system of record for problem and maintenance tracking.
• Provide technical support related to data network planning, engineering, and design.
• Report trouble calls upon receipt and provide hourly updates until resolution.
• Provide quarterly metrics illustrating trends and workload.
• Support network architecture and data traffic routing for ISR data across the Wide Area Network (WAN).
• Detect network faults and initiate restoration actions for circuits, trunks, and equipment.
• Perform network activities such as provisioning bandwidth and preparing and testing circuits.

Required Qualifications
Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT or enterprise network management.

Certifications:

• Must possess an IAT Level II certification, such as Security+.

Technical Skills:

• Demonstrated knowledge of network monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of network routing and switching.
• Experience troubleshooting network or system issues in an enterprise environment.

Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time, fully on-site position at Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia, supporting a 24/7 network operations environment.

• Employees work four 10-hour shifts per week.
• Initial Schedule: New hires will begin on a Monday through Thursday day shift.
• Day-shift schedules may include:
  • 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• After approximately four months on contract, employees will begin rotating monthly between:
  • Weekday Schedule: Monday through Thursday
  • Weekend Schedule: Thursday through Sunday
• Weekend shifts will follow the same shift hours as the weekday schedule.
• Overnight coverage is not expected to be the primary schedule, but candidates must be flexible to support night shifts if additional coverage is needed.
• If assigned to overnight coverage, employees will maintain the same four-day structure of either Monday through Thursday or Thursday through Sunday, with the shift hours changing to overnight hours.
• Any transition to overnight coverage would generally occur approximately every four months, if needed, based on operational coverage requirements.
• Candidates should be comfortable working within a 24/7 operations environment and maintaining schedule flexibility to support team coverage needs.
