Data Program Manager (TPM) - Technical Project Manager with AI

Location: Cupertino, CA/ Austin, TX (Hybrid 3 days On-Site and 2 days Remote)

Duration: 6-12 Months

Job Description:

Data Program Manager (TPM), Legal Operations (Contractor)

**Summary**

The Applied Data Science team within Legal Operations is building the data and AI foundation that powers one of Client''s most critical legal programs. We are looking for a hands-on Data Program Manager (TPM) to embed within the program and own delivery coordination for the data and analytics workstream — tracking milestones, managing dependencies, writing requirements, and ensuring the team''s work stays visible and on track across a complex, cross-functional environment.

This is an engagement for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, technology, and program delivery — and who gets into the details, not just the status updates.

**Description**

The Data Program Manager drives hands-on program delivery for the data and analytics workstream within a large, cross-functional legal program. You will be embedded in the program — owning the backlog, writing requirements, running ceremonies, and representing the data workstream to technology teams, functional stakeholders, and the PMO.

- Own end-to-end program management for the data workstream — tracking milestones, managing dependencies, and ensuring delivery against program commitments
- Build and maintain program trackers, dependency maps, and status dashboards directly — not delegated, owned
- Own the data workstream backlog — actively prioritize, refine, and sequence work with the engineering and analytics team
- Run sprint ceremonies — standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming for the data workstream
- Write detailed requirements documents and data specifications — translating business needs into clear, actionable inputs for data engineers, analysts, and architects
- Manage multiple concurrent program phases simultaneously, coordinating data delivery commitments across overlapping timelines
- Represent the data and analytics workstream in cross-functional forums including technology workstreams, functional teams, and the PMO
- Translate data team work — pipelines, integrations, analytics models, data quality efforts — into clear program updates that non-technical stakeholders can act on
- Manage intake, prioritization, and requirements for data requests coming from across the program
- Identify and surface risks, dependencies, and blockers across the data workstream and escalate as needed
- Coordinate with enterprise technology, data platform, and functional teams on data delivery dependencies
- Support data release planning and ensure data readiness milestones are met ahead of program releases
- Partner with the data and analytics team to ensure program commitments are realistic, well-scoped, and achievable

**Minimum Qualifications**

- 5+ years of experience in program management, project management, or technical delivery roles
- Experience managing data, analytics, or technology workstreams within large cross-functional programs
- Strong understanding of data and analytics concepts — able to engage credibly with data engineers, analysts, and architects
- Proven ability to represent technical workstreams to non-technical stakeholders and leadership
- Experience working within program management offices (PMO) or large enterprise program structures
- Excellent communication and documentation skills — able to produce clear status updates, decision logs, and escalation summaries
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and dependencies simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications**

- Experience in legal operations, legal tech, or corporate legal environments
- Familiarity with legal spend management, eBilling, outside counsel analytics, or LEDES/UTBMS billing data
- Experience with data integration programs or data platform delivery
- Understanding of agile delivery methodologies
- Experience with program management tools (Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar)
- PMP or similar certification
