AWS API Gateway & Python Developer (Security Team)

W2 Only (NO C2C / C2H / 1099)

Malvern, PA - Hybrid (3 days Onsite)

Support security engineering initiatives for the client's API infrastructure, focused on securing, automating, and maintaining API Gateway-based services.

5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure API solutions using AWS API Gateway and Python, in an agile environment. Responsible for building and hardening API integrations, implementing authentication/authorization controls (OAuth, API keys, IAM policies), and automating security checks within the API lifecycle. Experience with AWS Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch for monitoring and alerting. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub workflows) and infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation/Terraform) is a plus. Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) is beneficial.

Qualifications

Strong technical acumen in AWS API Gateway and Python, with working knowledge of security best practices for API development (OAuth, TLS, rate limiting, WAF integration). Experience with AWS Lambda, IAM, and related security tooling. Background supporting a security or platform engineering team preferred.
