Sr. Level Cisco R/S

This position is for a senior level Cisco Route/Switch (R/S) engineer who will be responsible for handling complex design, providing leadership, and demonstrating strong triage skills. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of route switch, be able to create detailed MOPs (Method of Procedure), and configure Cisco devices from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Configure Cisco routers and switches using Cisco IOS xe and Nexus OS
• Translate configurations from old O/S versions to new devices
• Work night shifts starting between 10-11pm CST and ending around 6am
• Provide leadership to a team of 10 engineers during maintenance window cuts on Cisco devices
• Triage applied config failures, hardware failures, and common failure scenarios
• Expertise in routing protocols, service provider specific technologies, spanning-tree, MPLS, etc.
• Utilize BGP, HSRP, OSPF, VLAN trunking, spanning tree, access lists, and layer 1 knowledge

Required Skills

• Experience with Cisco routers and switches
• Proficiency in Cisco IOS xe and Nexus OS
• Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VLAN trunking, and spanning tree
• Ability to provide leadership and guidance to a team
• Strong triage skills for troubleshooting applied config failures and hardware issues

Preferred Skills

• Experience with TACAS for Key 6 scenarios
• Familiarity with MPLS and layer 1 networking technologies
• Understanding of different types of SFP/QSFP modules
• Certifications such as CCNP or CCIE
