Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data/Information Architect Consultant with a strong background in database architecture, data modeling, SQL development, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and Java development.

The consultant will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise applications, forms, workflows, dashboards, and reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database architecture and development, preferably within state government environments, along with hands-on expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.5), Power BI, and Agile methodologies.

Working under limited supervision and reporting to a functional manager, the consultant will collaborate with application developers, database administrators, business users, and technical teams to ensure data integrity, application reliability, performance optimization, and compliance with information security standards.

The role may include shared 24/7 on-call responsibilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Data Architecture and Database Design

• Collaborate with consultants, application developers, and end users to develop logical data models and data architectures for assigned applications.
• Design and implement relational databases within established architectural frameworks to meet application and business requirements.
• Serve as the lead database designer for assigned application systems.
• Establish, document, and maintain database design standards and best practices.
• Analyze anticipated data volumes, access patterns, and business usage to optimize database performance and efficiency.
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, security, and availability across application environments.

2. SQL Development and Database Optimization

• Develop, maintain, and optimize advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, database scripts, and related database components.
• Establish standards for stored procedures, object-relational mapping (ORM), and other database access methods.
• Define best practices for application-level database handling, including exception management and error handling.
• Develop database utilities and integration solutions, including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, as required.
• Troubleshoot database-related application issues in development and production environments.
• Collaborate with database administration teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Recommend improvements to database architecture, data processing, and application performance.

3. Adobe Experience Manager and Application Development

• Support the development and maintenance of enterprise applications using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM 6.5).
• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of forms, workflows, content management solutions, and related application components.
• Work with development teams and vendors to ensure sound site architecture, performance, reliability, and content delivery.
• Apply secure web programming practices and follow established coding and deployment standards.
• Support Java application development, including design, coding, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assist in configuring system settings and application options to meet business and technical requirements.

4. Power BI, Reporting, and Data Solutions

• Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions using Power BI.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across reporting and analytics solutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve data accessibility, reporting efficiency, and information delivery.

5. Testing, Deployment, and Migration

• Plan and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Develop technical specifications and system documentation based on business requirements.
• Assist with application deployments across Development, QA, and Production environments.
• Support application migrations, system upgrades, and configuration changes.
• Follow established practices for coding standards, unit test coverage, automation, and continuous integration.
• Ensure deployments comply with security requirements and internal technical standards.
• Prepare and maintain system, programming, and implementation documentation for review and approval.

6. Infrastructure Support and Troubleshooting

• Contribute to the stability and integrity of data services and supporting server infrastructure through monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Investigate technical issues related to application performance, backup configurations, and recovery procedures.
• Recommend and implement appropriate workarounds and corrective actions.
• Perform software and equipment upgrades as required.
• Maintain knowledge of current computing, networking, and software technologies.
• Participate in shared on-call support responsibilities as required.

7. Communication and Stakeholder Management

• Communicate effectively with technical teams, business users, vendors, management, and IT professionals at all organizational levels.
• Provide feedback on product issues, system enhancements, and new functionality.
• Proactively identify and recommend process improvements.
• Manage multiple assignments concurrently and provide timely status updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with peers and management to resolve customer issues and share technical knowledge.
• Prioritize incidents and service requests according to severity and established service-level expectations.
• Maintain accurate help desk records and communicate issue status and resolution progress to appropriate stakeholders.
• Demonstrate initiative, accountability, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills.

8. Security and Compliance

• Adhere to organizational information security policies and promote security awareness among team members.
• Follow established standards for secure application development, database management, and deployment.
• Ensure technical solutions align with applicable organizational policies and compliance requirements.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following experience requirements, listed in order of importance:

1. 10+ years of experience in database modeling, architecture, and development.
2. 9+ years of experience working with state government organizations.
3. 10+ years of advanced SQL experience.
4. 5+ years of experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) 6.5.
5. 4+ years of Java development experience, including application design and coding.
6. 5+ years of experience working with Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud-based solutions and architectures.
• Experience developing enterprise forms, workflows, and content management solutions.
• Familiarity with Power BI dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions.

Education and Certifications

Required Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or another certification issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
