Job Description

About the Role:
We're looking for a senior contract engineer to eliminate high-impact database performance bottlenecks and timeouts, and help reduce database hosting spend. Years of inefficient SQL have created performance hot paths that generate recurring client complaints and currently require specialist assistance to diagnose. This role will dig into the root causes and deliver lasting fixes.

What You'll Do:

  • Assess RDS performance metrics to identify problem areas
  • Identify the highest-impact queries and trace them back to the relevant C# code
  • Optimize SQL, then build, test, and deploy improvements
  • Review and optimize database indexes
  • Remove SQL Server compatibility mode and validate the change through testing

What We're Looking For:

  • 4–6 years of experience as a senior C# / .NET Framework engineer
  • Very strong SQL / MS SQL Server skills, with a track record of diagnosing and improving performance in Entity Framework–heavy applications
  • Experience with AWS RDS, specifically SQL Server
