Job Description

AWS-native implementation architect

Role at a glance:

·         Team: Hyatt's Data Platform Architecture team (same group as the earlier Data Architect req)

·         Focus: Building and deploying Hyatt's Enterprise Data Platform on AWS

Must have:

·         Kafka at enterprise streaming scale

·         Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS Fargate

·         Mixed Windows/Linux server environments

·         Networking/security group/policy management across UNIX, Linux, Windows

What you'd actually do:

·         Design and build enterprise data solutions aligned to Hyatt's target-state architecture

·         Implement data migration, data delivery, and ML pipelines

·         Set up and manage IAM roles/policies

·         Build resilient, secure, performant data platforms and applications

·         Work day-to-day with app dev and data engineering teams on implementation (not just strategy)

·         Automate deployments of AWS services and BI applications

How this differs from the earlier Data Architect role: that one was strategy/governance-heavy (standards, principles, data quality frameworks, stakeholder alignment). This one is far more hands-on AWS implementation — provisioning services, automating deployments, securing infrastructure.

Required technical qualifications:

·         6+ years in application/platform engineering, BI, or analytics

·         4+ years senior AWS cloud data engineering — architecting, managing, implementing best practices

·         Data warehousing: Snowflake, Redshift, or similar

·         Deep AWS service knowledge: S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Kinesis, Data Pipelines, EMR, Step Functions, VPC, IAM, Security Groups

·         DB/programming: SQL, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora/RDS, MongoDB, Redis

·         CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, CloudFormation, Terraform

·         Strong IAM roles/policies expertise

·         AWS cloud monitoring/alerting setup

·         Scripting: PowerShell and/or Python

·         PaaS/SaaS application performance knowledge

·         Ability to read enterprise architecture diagrams + understand IT security requirements

Additional qualifications:

·         Comfort with ambiguity, fast-paced/changing environment

·         Experience building scalable data pipelines

·         On-premises to AWS migration experience specifically

·         BA/BS in Computer Engineering, CS, or related field

·         Strong communication skills

Bottom line: This is a senior, AWS-native implementation architect — someone who doesn't just design on paper but actually builds, automates, and secures the cloud data platform. It leans much more toward hands-on AWS engineer with architecture-level scope than the earlier Data Architect posting, which leaned more toward enterprise strategy and governance. If you're comparing the two Hyatt roles for fit, the deciding factor is: do you want to be closer to hands-on AWS build-out (this role) or closer to enterprise data strategy/standards-setting (the other one)?
