Job Description

Test Engineer - (Ships Safety/CASCON Watch) | Groton, CT, United States | Hybrid This employer is a leading force in one of the nation's most critical industrial sectors, renowned for its complex projects and commitment to national security. This role offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of advanced shipbuilding and maintenance, ensuring the highest standards are met. The Role • Serve as a Ships Safety Watch (SSW), maintaining constant patrol and vigilance over ship conditions, including security, safety, and watertight integrity. • Operate the Shipyard CASCON system, managing alarms, public address announcements, and communications with emergency response teams. • Act as a Department 272 Point of Contact (POC), responding to safety issues in the absence of a Ships Safety Officer and reviewing patrol logs. • Report and take immediate action to control hazardous conditions such as fire, flooding, or integrity breaches. • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA manuals, Shipyard Standard Procedures (SSP), and Multi-Department Directions (MDD). What You'll Need • High School Diploma or GED. • 2-10 years of experience in submarine ship systems, testing, or a Navy qualification in submarines. • Knowledge of submarine compartment arrangements, shipyard regulations, and tagout procedures (SSP 7.39). • Understanding of Watertight Integrity Permits (WIP), High Risk Evolutions, and Safety Plan of the Day (SPOD). • Ability to complete required internal training programs (e.g., Electric Boat 6010 School).
