Sr Network Engineer with Security Clearance

You'll join the team supporting a standalone mission network functioning as the Sr. Network Engineer responsible for switching, firewall, and network access control infrastructure that underpins critical mission operations at the center. This is an authority-level position on the program, well suited to someone who can operate independently, troubleshoot complex multi-layer network issues, and own the day-to-day health of the network rather than wait for guidance on each step.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience including hands-on design, deployment, and administration of enterprise LAN environment (routing, switching, VLAN architecture, & network security)
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Alcatel-Lucent (ALE) OmniSwitch infrastructure and OmniVista Network Management System
• Extensive Fortinet FortiGate firewall administration experience (troubleshooting, managing configurations, etc.)
• Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex, multi-layer network issues (switching, routing, firewall, NAC) without relying on vendor documentation lookups in real time
• Public Trust clearance/investigative background check completed REQUIRED, active Secret clearance highly preferred
• B.S. degree

Preferred Skills

• Experience with FortiAnalyzer for log aggregation, reporting, and security event correlation
• Aruba ClearPass / 802.1X (EAP-TLS) certificate-based authentication and PKI/certificate lifecycle management experience
• Experience working in a SCIF/classified environments and technologies (Secret clearance ideal)
• Experience supporting standalone/mission-isolated networks separate from broader enterprise environments Responsibilities:
• Design, configure, deploy, and maintain Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) OmniSwitch infrastructure across the LAN environment, including VLAN architecture, spanning tree, and link aggregation
• Manage switch firmware upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and troubleshoot switching-layer issues (port errors, VLAN misconfigurations, inter-switch connectivity)
• Plan and execute switch replacements, stack expansions, and capacity upgrades as the network grows
• Manage and monitor the switch fleet through OmniVista — configuration templates, dashboards, alerting, firmware rollouts, and device inventory/topology tracking
• Configure and maintain FortiGate firewall policies, routing, and HA pairs, including security profile tuning (intrusion prevention, application control, web filtering) and firmware patching
• Troubleshoot firewall-related connectivity and performance issues, and utilize FortiAnalyzer for centralized log aggregation, reporting, and security event correlation
• Design and manage 802.1X network access control using Aruba ClearPass, including certificate-based authentication (EAP-TLS), PKI/certificate lifecycle management, policy enforcement, and device onboarding/authentication troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot complex, multi-layer network issues spanning switching, routing, firewall, and NAC systems, and maintain network documentation (topology diagrams, SOPs, configuration baselines)
• Participate in on-call rotation, respond to network incidents, and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams on connectivity, security, and infrastructure projects
