Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst with strong business analysis and software testing expertise to support the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise software applications. The ideal candidate will analyze complex business processes, gather and document requirements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop comprehensive testing deliverables. Hands-on experience with Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as HP ALM, Rational RequisitePro, or Jama is required. Experience with state or federal agencies and pension or retirement-related systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

· Assess project scope, business needs, analysis activities, and testing requirements for complex software implementations.

· Plan and coordinate business analysis and testing activities in alignment with project objectives and timelines.

· Elicit, analyze, define, validate, and document business, user, functional, and non-functional requirements.

· Prepare business requirements documents, business rules, functional specifications, stakeholder requirements, and system documentation.

· Collaborate with business subject matter experts, application architects, developers, testers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and implementation expectations.

· Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test result documentation.

· Perform functional, regression, and system testing to validate application functionality and business process outcomes.

· Review and update test plans and cases for periodic maintenance releases, enhancements, and system changes.

· Maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure coverage of business and technical requirements.

· Use HP ALM, Rational RequisitePro, or Jama to manage requirements, specifications, test cases, defects, and end-to-end traceability.

· Identify, document, track, and coordinate defect resolution with development and business teams.

· Support transition planning, release validation, test execution reporting, and project documentation.

· Ensure testing deliverables meet project quality standards and stakeholder expectations.

Mandatory Qualifications

· At least 7 years of experience within the last 10 years working as a Test Analyst on complex software, systems, or application implementations in large organizations.

· At least 7 years of experience within the last 10 years producing business analysis and testing deliverables, including business requirements and rules; functional and non-functional requirements; stakeholder requests; test strategies, plans, cases, and results; transition plans; and requirements traceability matrices.

· At least 3 years of hands-on experience using Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as HP ALM, Rational RequisitePro, or Jama for requirements documentation, test management, defect tracking, and traceability.

· Demonstrated experience in regression testing and maintaining test documentation for periodic software releases.

· Strong analytical, written communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

· Ability to work on-site at CalSTRS headquarters in West Sacramento, California, 2–3 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience as a Test Analyst for a state or federal government agency.

· Experience supporting pension administration, retirement benefits, or pension-related software development and implementation projects.

· Knowledge of pension and retirement systems, business rules, and related processes.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited or government-sanctioned institution.
