The Data Engineer will collaborate closely with U.S.-based product owners, architects, and analytics teams during overlapping business hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and support Databricks medallion architecture, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
  • Develop and optimize SQL-based transformations, data models, and Power BI semantic models within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Apply data governance, security, access controls, metadata, and data quality standards across Databricks environments.
  • Support Databricks administration and day-to-day platform operations, including workspace, cluster, permissions, and related configuration activities.
  • Ingest and transform data from ERP systems, operational databases, flat files, APIs, and other enterprise sources into modern cloud data platforms.
  • Apply Master Data Management (MDM) concepts to support consistent, governed, and trusted enterprise data within Databricks.
  • Support modernization of legacy ODS-style pipelines toward modern cloud data architectures and lakehouse patterns.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes using Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, and related DevOps practices.
  • Integrate and support Azure services including ADF, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, Azure Functions, and Azure Runbooks.
  • Work with APIs for data integration, automation, and application-to-platform connectivity.
  • Support AI and agentic application development patterns that leverage enterprise data and modern cloud services.
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, monitoring, and proper error handling in production pipelines.
  • Collaborate with U.S.-based stakeholders on requirements, technical design, troubleshooting, governance, and delivery.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting for existing data pipelines and Databricks environments as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, transformations, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and modern lakehouse/data engineering architectures.
  • Experience with Databricks medallion architecture and Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and their application within Databricks.
  • Experience developing data models and Power BI semantic models within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), Git, source control, and CI/CD processes.
  • Data governance and Databricks administration experience, including security, permissions, access controls, and platform standards.
  • Experience integrating data through APIs and Azure services such as ADF, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, Azure Functions, and Runbooks.
  • Experience integrating on-premises and cloud data sources.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and modern lakehouse architecture.
  • Experience working in distributed / offshore delivery models.
  • Comfortable working in Agile or Scrumban-style environments.
  • AI and agentic application development experience is strongly preferred.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Spark or PySpark.
  • Exposure to modern lakehouse platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or Snowflake.
  • Experience supporting financial or operational reporting data.
  • Experience building or supporting AI/agentic applications that integrate with enterprise data platforms.
Security & Data Handling Requirements
  • No customer or company data may be stored on local machines.
  • All development involving sensitive data must occur within customer-approved virtual machines or controlled environments.
