Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and enterprise data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, AI/ML initiatives, and healthcare business operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in cloud data engineering, ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, big data technologies, data quality, and governance, preferably within the healthcare or health insurance domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
  • Build data ingestion frameworks from multiple source systems, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise data models.
  • Implement data transformation, validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and data quality processes.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, governance, and compliance across enterprise data platforms.
  • Optimize large-scale data pipelines and database workloads for performance and scalability.
  • Support enterprise analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and data science initiatives through reliable data delivery.
  • Implement metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production data issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Data Scientists, Application Teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Follow healthcare regulatory and data privacy requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Work effectively with distributed teams across multiple locations.
  • Contribute to enterprise-scale data engineering initiatives and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

Data Engineering

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
  • Strong experience in data pipeline development and ETL/ELT architecture.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and data lake architecture.
  • Experience with dimensional and relational data modeling.
  • Strong SQL and data transformation skills.
  • Experience implementing data quality, validation, reconciliation, and governance processes.

Cloud Technologies

Experience with one or more of the following:

AWS:

  • AWS Glue
  • EMR
  • Lambda
  • S3
  • Redshift
  • Athena

Azure:

  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Data Lake
  • Azure Synapse
  • Databricks

Databases & Data Platforms

  • SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • PostgreSQL
  • Snowflake
  • Experience with modern cloud-native data platforms is highly desirable.

Programming & Big Data

  • Python
  • SQL
  • PySpark
  • Shell Scripting
  • Apache Spark
  • Hadoop ecosystem
  • Kafka is preferred

DevOps & CI/CD

  • Git
  • Jenkins
  • Azure DevOps
  • CI/CD pipeline implementation
  • Experience with automated deployment and data engineering DevOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Healthcare, Health Insurance, or Life Sciences.
  • Experience supporting healthcare payer or insurance data environments.
  • Experience with Elevance Health / Carelon is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines and MLOps frameworks.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as:
    • HL7
    • FHIR
    • ICD
    • CPT
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern cloud data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, healthcare data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
