Job Description

Desktop Technician

Location: Charleston, SC
Duration: 12+ Months
Pay Rate: $27/hour W2 – No Benefits OR $50,000+ annually – Plus Benefits
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Schedule: Standard Business Hours

Position Overview

We are looking for a Desktop Technician to provide first-level IT support in a manufacturing and enterprise environment. The position will support end users across desktop, laptop, mobile, peripheral, printer, and basic network environments.

The technician will work from one primary location while providing support to a total of five sites. Occasional travel to four additional locations, generally within approximately one hour, will be required. Travel is expected to be approximately 10–15%, with mileage reimbursed. Occasional evening or weekend support may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level desktop and end-user support.

  • Troubleshoot Windows desktop/laptop hardware and software issues.

  • Troubleshoot printers, peripherals, network connectivity, and related IT issues.

  • Manage incidents and service requests through a ticketing system.

  • Deploy and configure desktops, laptops, and manufacturing workstations.

  • Perform device imaging and configuration.

  • Join devices to corporate domains.

  • Perform basic Active Directory administration.

  • Install and validate enterprise applications and endpoint security tools.

  • Configure network settings and user access.

  • Support mobile devices and Mobile Device Management solutions.

  • Perform endpoint software and operating system updates.

  • Maintain hardware and device inventory.

  • Troubleshoot basic TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wireless, and network connectivity issues.

  • Assist with VLAN/subnet documentation and network audits.

  • Support endpoint security and compliance activities.

  • Assist with Active Directory, device, backup, security, and file-share audits.

  • Assist with backup verification and recovery testing.

  • Provide technical guidance and user education.

  • Support IT projects, equipment installations, moves, adds, and changes.

  • Escalate complex infrastructure issues to senior IT/networking teams.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in Desktop Support, IT Support, Help Desk, or a related role.

  • Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Basic knowledge of Windows, Active Directory, networking, and endpoint technologies.

  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and follow established IT procedures.

  • Must be able to work onsite in Charleston, SC.

  • Must be willing to travel approximately 10–15% to nearby supported locations.

  • Occasional evening/weekend availability may be required.
