Oracle Golden Gate DBA L3

Department: Information Technology / Database Administration

Location: Dallas, TX Hybrid

Duration: 6+Months

About Our Client

Our client is a large, established utility company serving millions of customers across Texas. They operate critical infrastructure at scale and are known for a fast-paced, results-driven culture where technical excellence directly supports the communities they serve.

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Oracle Golden Gate DBA at the L3 level to join a high-performing database team supporting mission-critical replication environments. In this role, you'll be embedded in a 24x7 production environment where your hands-on expertise in Golden Gate both Classic and Microservices architectures will directly influence data integrity, system uptime, and replication performance across on-premises and hybrid infrastructure.

Day-to-day, you'll own the full lifecycle of Golden Gate deployments: installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting. You'll collaborate closely with Oracle DBA and infrastructure teams, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and be a go-to resource for escalated replication issues. This is a role for someone who thrives under pressure, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings deep Oracle 18c/19c DBA experience, a sharp troubleshooting instinct, and the confidence to drive critical issues to resolution both independently and across teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and administer Oracle Golden Gate (Classic and Microservices) for real-time data replication, synchronization, and database migrations across on-premises and hybrid environments
  • Manage Golden Gate deployments using the Administration Server, Service Manager, and Performance Metrics Service within the Microservices framework
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Golden Gate processes to resolve replication lag, data conflicts, and process failures
  • Implement performance tuning and parallel replication strategies to enhance throughput and replication efficiency
  • Collaborate with Oracle database environments including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Exadata, and OEM to ensure high availability and consistency of replicated data
  • Utilize AWR, ADDM, and other performance tools to analyze and improve database and replication performance
  • Implement, configure, and maintain Data Guard and RAC environments, handling day-to-day administration and troubleshooting
  • Use Data Pump (Export/Import) utilities for database migration and data management tasks
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for reporting, automation, and Golden Gate monitoring
  • Design and implement heterogeneous replication between Oracle and non-Oracle databases using Golden Gate Microservices
  • Contribute to performance optimization, troubleshooting, and capacity planning of high-volume replication systems
  • Participate actively in service improvement plans and be available for on-call rotation as required

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years of Oracle 18c/19c Database Administration experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Golden Gate installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production environments
  • Expertise in replication setup, tuning, conflict resolution, and parallel processing
  • In-depth understanding of Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Exadata, and related technologies
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning using AWR and ADDM; exposure to OEM monitoring
  • Knowledge of shell scripting and automation frameworks
  • Experience working in heterogeneous database environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present and document clearly
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 environment with rotational shifts and on-call responsibilities

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience in a DevOps or Agile environment
  • Working knowledge of JIRA
  • Experience supporting large-scale utility, energy, or regulated industry environments

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
