Job Description: Solution Architect OLTP Data Modeling (Telecom/Wireless)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with deep expertise in OLTP Data Modeling and Data Architecture within the Telecom/Wireless industry.
This role requires a hands-on architect capable of designing and governing highly normalized transactional databases that support customer-facing mobile applications, subscriber management systems, product catalogs, order management, and activation workflows.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Erwin Data Modeler, Oracle Database, PL/SQL, and Python, along with a proven track record of architecting scalable, high-volume transactional systems in a telecom environment.
Note: This is an OLTP-focused role. Candidates with primary experience in Data Warehousing, BI, Analytics Engineering, Reporting, or ETL/ELT development will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Modeling
  • Translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Design and maintain highly normalized (3NF) enterprise data models.
  • Create conceptual Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and logical data models.
  • Establish and govern business data definitions, standards, and naming conventions.
Oracle Database Design
  • Design Oracle physical schemas, including:
    • Tables and columns
    • Primary and foreign keys
    • Indexing strategies
    • Constraints and sequences
    • Partitioning structures
  • Ensure database scalability, integrity, and performance.
Erwin Data Modeling
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models using Erwin Data Modeler.
  • Manage model versioning through Erwin Mart.
  • Perform forward and reverse engineering.
  • Utilize Complete Compare to identify and resolve schema differences.
  • Maintain naming standards, domains, and model governance.
PL/SQL Development & Performance Tuning
  • Develop and optimize complex PL/SQL code.
  • Analyze execution plans and identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize indexing strategies and database queries.
  • Troubleshoot locking, contention, and concurrency issues in high-volume transactional environments.
Data Governance & Quality
  • Define data modeling standards, governance procedures, and review processes.
  • Develop data dictionaries and impact analysis documentation.
  • Establish controls for data quality, consistency, completeness, and integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements.
Python Automation
  • Develop automation tools for:
    • Model validation
    • Metadata extraction
    • Schema compliance checks
    • Data profiling
    • Deployment support
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Data Architecture and Data Modeling experience.
  • Majority of experience focused on OLTP/transactional systems.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with:
    • Erwin Data Modeler
    • Oracle Database
    • Advanced PL/SQL Development
    • Python
  • Expert understanding of:
    • 3NF data modeling and normalization
    • Logical and physical data modeling
    • Database performance tuning
    • Data governance practices
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate requirements into technical solutions.
Telecom/Wireless Domain Experience (Mandatory)
Candidates should possess hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Subscriber and account lifecycle management
  • Multi-line and hierarchical account structures
  • Product catalogs, rate plans, and offers
  • Features, entitlements, compatibility, and eligibility rules
  • Order management, activation, and provisioning workflows
  • Device and equipment management
  • Device financing and installment plans
  • Mobile subscriber identifiers:
    • MSISDN
    • IMSI
    • ICCID/SIM
    • IMEI
  • Number portability (Port-In/Port-Out)
  • Telecom BSS/OSS ecosystems
Preferred Qualifications
  • TM Forum SID Data Model experience
  • Telecom platforms such as:
    • Amdocs
    • Netcracker
    • Ericsson
    • CSG
  • Oracle Exadata
  • Oracle GoldenGate
  • Schema version control and automation
  • Temporal and history-based data modeling
  • Supertype/Subtype modeling patterns
  • Capacity planning and scalability modeling
