Job Description
Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Annuity Business Analyst/Consultant to join a contract opportunity with permanent potential based in Iowa. This role is 100% remote. This role will guide annuity product implementations by turning product and actuarial concepts into practical business and system requirements that support successful delivery. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to align product intent, operational needs, testing expectations, and technical execution across the full annuity lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Act as the lead annuity subject matter expert, advising teams on product setup, implementation planning, and operational preparedness for new offerings and enhancements. Collaborate with actuarial, product, operations, technology, and vendor partners to convert annuity designs into detailed business rules, workflows, calculation logic, and data requirements. Define end-to-end requirements covering illustrations, application processing, suitability review, policy issuance, administration, billing, commissions, servicing, withdrawals, claims, correspondence, and reporting.
Evaluate product variations, state-specific rules, premium structures, rider selections, value calculations, surrender activity, beneficiary events, and compliance considerations to ensure complete requirement coverage. Provide direction to IT business analysts, developers, and quality teams so user stories, specifications, mappings, and acceptance criteria accurately reflect annuity product intent. Develop and review business validation scenarios, expected outcomes, calculation checks, exception handling cases, and regression considerations to strengthen testing quality.
Participate in planning sessions, design discussions, backlog refinement, sprint activities, demos, defect reviews, and release readiness efforts to support timely and accurate delivery. Review configuration documents, product rules, data mappings, conversion assumptions, and third-party deliverables to confirm alignment with business objectives and implementation standards. Identify process gaps, operational risks, dependency issues, and control needs that could affect launch success, and recommend solutions before release.
Support product validation and implementation activities related to system changes or organizational transition efforts when needed. Requirements
10+ years of business analysis or consulting experience, with a strong focus on annuity products and product implementation work. Deep knowledge of fixed, indexed, and variable annuities, including core product features, calculations, servicing events, and regulatory considerations. Demonstrated ability to translate complex product specifications into structured requirements, business rules, process flows, and testable acceptance criteria.
Proven experience partnering with actuarial teams, product stakeholders, IT business analysts, QA teams, developers, and external vendors. Strong background in end-to-end annuity lifecycle processes such as new business, policy administration, billing, commissions, claims, withdrawals, and reporting. Ability to analyze operational impacts, identify implementation risks, and resolve requirement gaps across cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to business and technical audiences.
