Crane Engineer

Location: Erith
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including Speedy Work Life Balance (SWLB)

As a Crane Engineer, you'll be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of overhead travelling cranes, hoists and associated lifting equipment across a variety of customer sites.

You'll use your technical expertise to diagnose faults, complete repairs and preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment remains safe, compliant and fully operational.

You'll also work closely with our customers, providing professional technical advice and helping them minimise downtime while meeting their statutory obligations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out routine servicing, inspection and maintenance of overhead cranes and hoists
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and completing effective repairs
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime
  • Undertaking fault finding, retrofits, modernisations and equipment upgrades
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance with LOLER, PUWER and relevant health & safety legislation
  • Producing accurate service reports and clearly communicating technical findings and recommendations
  • Providing customers with knowledgeable, professional technical advice
  • Building strong and lasting relationships with customers through excellent service
  • Working safely at height and following all Lloyds British safety procedures

What We're Looking For

You'll have a strong electrical and mechanical engineering background with previous experience working on overhead cranes, hoists or similar lifting equipment.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • An NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Previous experience servicing, maintaining or repairing overhead cranes and hoists
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • A good understanding of LOLER and PUWER
  • Experience working safely at height
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider engineering team
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and delivering a first-class service
