Job Description

Role Title: ATE Test - Lab Operator 1

Location: Austin, Texas

Duration: 12+ months contract

Schedule: Night Shift

The nights would be for a compressed B Shift schedule. Which would be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday, 6pm - 6am.
For initial training it would be scheduled Monday - Friday 8-5 preferred but can be adjusted depending on the candidate's needs. Training would be about 4 weeks or as little as 2 weeks.

Position Summary:

The Lab Operator 1 will support engineering lab operations by executing work orders, monitoring automated test equipment (ATE), supporting engineering debug activities, and ensuring efficient operation of lab resources. This role works closely with engineers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to execute testing activities, maintain tester utilization, and support product development milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned work orders in accordance with established priorities and procedures.
  • Operate and monitor automated test equipment (ATE) and related lab hardware.
  • Load, unload, and manage product samples throughout the testing process.
  • Perform tester setup, validation, and routine operational checks.
  • Support engineering debug activities by preparing systems, swapping units, collecting data, and following engineering instructions.
  • Track work order status and accurately document progress, issues, and completion details.
  • Communicate tester issues, equipment concerns, and work order updates to supervisors and engineering teams.
  • Maintain shift pass-down information to ensure seamless transitions between teams.
  • Assist with inventory staging, sample preparation, and material handling activities.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow execution.
  • Participate in cross-training efforts to expand operational flexibility across lab functions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Comfortable working with electronic hardware and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout a shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, semiconductor, electronics, or engineering support environment.
  • Familiarity with test equipment, troubleshooting, and engineering lab operations.
  • Experience supporting engineering validation, characterization, or debug activities.
  • Experience using work order management systems and electronic tracking tools.
