Quick overview
Job description
Blackmores is continuing to invest in its Data & Analytics capability as part of our broader business transformation, supporting future growth, operational efficiency, AI readiness and better business decision-making.
As Data Governance Lead, you will play a key role in establishing and embedding enterprise-wide data governance practices across Blackmores Group. You will help ensure our data is trusted, well-managed and fit for purpose, with clear ownership, consistent definitions, strong data quality and practical governance processes embedded across the business.
Working across business and technology teams, you'll lead the development and operationalisation of our data governance framework, covering data ownership and stewardship, data quality, metadata, master data and governance standards. You'll initially support major transformation initiatives, including our SAP S/4HANA ERP, CRM and Data Strategy programs, ensuring governance is built into the way we design, deliver and manage our data and technology platforms.
This is a permanent opportunity based in Surry Hills, NSW, with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Blackmores' enterprise Data Governance Framework, operating model and standards.
- Establish clear data ownership and stewardship practices, partnering with business stakeholders to build accountability for data quality and management.
- Develop and embed enterprise data quality practices, including standards, monitoring, issue management and remediation processes.
- Lead metadata, business glossary, data catalogue and data lineage practices to improve data consistency, transparency and accessibility.
- Provide governance leadership across master and reference data domains, including customer, product, supplier, material and finance data.
- Embed data governance requirements into major transformation initiatives, including ERP, CRM, Data Strategy and AI enablement programs.
- Partner with Cyber, Privacy, Legal, Risk and Technology teams to ensure appropriate data classification, security, privacy and responsible data use.
- Drive governance adoption through stakeholder engagement, training, practical guidance and the development of data literacy across the business.
- Define governance metrics and reporting to monitor maturity, data quality, ownership and continuous improvement.
Who are you?
- You have 7+ years' experience in data governance, data management, information management, master data management or a related discipline.
- You have demonstrated experience establishing and operationalising data governance frameworks, operating models, policies and stewardship practices.
- You bring strong knowledge of data quality management, metadata, business glossaries, data catalogues, lineage, classification and data lifecycle management.
- You have experience supporting complex enterprise transformation programs, ideally involving ERP/SAP, CRM, cloud data platforms or analytics modernisation.
- You understand master and reference data governance, including data ownership, standards, quality and source-of-truth decisions.
- You are confident engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, business SMEs and technical delivery teams.
- You can translate data governance principles into practical processes, controls and ways of working that business teams can adopt and sustain.
- You bring strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and drive collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience with data governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Informatica or SAP MDG would be advantageous.
- Experience in a regulated, consumer health, FMCG, manufacturing or retail environment would be highly regarded.
A tertiary qualification in Data, Information Management, Business, Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience, is required.
