About the Opportunity

We are supporting an organisation looking for a Principal ServiceNow Solutions Architect to take ownership of technical design and platform architecture across complex ServiceNow implementations and ongoing platform development.

This is a senior, hands-on architecture role suited to someone who can translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, guide development teams and make informed decisions around platform capabilities, integrations, governance and long-term maintainability.

You will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and delivery leadership to ensure ServiceNow solutions are built around platform best practices, with a strong preference for out-of-the-box functionality wherever practical.

Key Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture and technical design across ServiceNow implementations, enhancements and platform transformation initiatives.

• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

• Define development standards, integration patterns, platform governance and architectural best practices.

• Lead technical design reviews, assess solution feasibility and identify risks across complex implementations.

• Oversee integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub and other appropriate integration methods.

• Guide architectural decisions across ITSM, CMDB, CSDM and related ServiceNow capabilities.

• Evaluate when configuration and out-of-the-box functionality are appropriate versus when custom development is justified.

• Work with developers and technical consultants to resolve complex platform issues and maintain solution quality.

• Support platform upgrades, technical debt reduction, performance optimisation and long-term platform scalability.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to establish technical roadmaps aligned with wider business and technology objectives.

• Mentor developers and technical consultants, providing guidance on architecture, coding standards and implementation practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience working with the ServiceNow platform, including substantial technical delivery experience.

• Proven experience in a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, Principal Consultant or equivalent senior technical role.

• Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, application development, scripting and platform configuration.

• Experience designing and delivering complex ServiceNow implementations and enterprise integrations.

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Glide APIs, Script Includes, Business Rules and Flow Designer.

• Experience with CMDB, CSDM, ITSM and enterprise platform governance.

• Ability to produce clear technical designs, architecture documentation and implementation standards.

• Experience balancing business requirements with platform best practices, scalability, security and maintainability.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or relevant architect-level certifications.

• Experience with ITOM, Discovery, Service Mapping or enterprise configuration management.

• Experience with IntegrationHub, MID Servers and complex third-party integrations.

• Exposure to SecOps, IRM/GRC, HRSD or Customer Service Management.

• Experience working for a ServiceNow implementation partner or consulting organisation.

• Experience with Now Assist, AI-enabled workflows or platform automation.
