Associate Platform Engineer – Entry Level (Remote)

Verapath provides a private AI infrastructure platform designed to support regulatory compliance, risk control, and secure AI adoption for banks, credit unions, wealth and asset management firms, and other regulated entities. Our Platform Engineering team keeps the platform built, released, secure, and reliable across Azure and AWS while supporting our internal engineering teams, financial institution clients, and their end users.

This is an entry-level role, and we do not expect you to know our technology stack on day one. We are looking for someone who is curious, careful, and eager to learn. You will work alongside a senior Platform Engineer, beginning with read-only access and supervised tasks, and taking on additional responsibility as you demonstrate sound judgment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and release support: Monitor Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, investigate failed builds, and bring clear findings to the team. Over time, make changes to pipeline YAML through pull requests.
• Cloud environments: Help maintain Azure and AWS development, staging, and demo environments, including health checks, configuration reviews, resource inventory, and cost/cleanup reports.
• Identity and Microsoft 365 administration: Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, license assignments, groups, and mailbox setup in Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365, following documented procedures.
• Security and compliance: Collect and organize evidence for our SOC 2 program, including screenshots, access reviews, and configuration records, and track remediation items until they are closed.
• Client environment support: Help troubleshoot client-hosted deployments under guidance, including connectivity, configuration, and access issues.
• Documentation: Write and maintain runbooks and operational documentation in Markdown in our documentation repository.
• Automation: Write small PowerShell and CLI scripts (az, aws, gh) that turn manual checks into repeatable processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 0–2 years of experience in IT, DevOps, cloud, systems administration, or a related area. Internships, home lab projects, bootcamp projects, and degree projects will be considered.
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform. Azure is preferred, and AWS experience is welcome.
• Basic scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Comfort with Git, including branches, commits, and pull requests.
• Basic understanding of networking and identity concepts, including DNS, TLS, firewall rules, and role assignments.
• Ability to communicate clearly and document checks, discoveries, and proposed solutions in detail.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS – WORKING KNOWLEDGE HELPFUL

• Azure Fundamentals certification (AZ-900) or progress toward AZ-104. AWS Cloud Practitioner certification also qualifies.
• Some exposure to Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or another CI/CD tool.
• Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration experience, including from a small organization or school IT role.
• Familiarity with Docker.
• Interest in security and compliance frameworks, including SOC 2 and least privilege access.
• Experience using AI coding assistants, with the discipline to review and validate their output before relying on it.
