Job Description

We are seeking an experienced OT Solutions Architect specializing in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to design, support, and deliver manufacturing technology solutions across multiple manufacturing sites.

The ideal candidate will provide IT-side solution architecture and technical governance for Sepasoft MES and Ignition SCADA platforms, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable integration between Operational Technology (OT) and enterprise IT systems.

This role will collaborate closely with OT Automation teams, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, quality and validation teams, vendors, and system integrators to establish architecture standards, reusable deployment playbooks, and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own IT-side solution architecture for MES (Sepasoft) and SCADA (Ignition) implementations across manufacturing environments.

  • Ensure MES/SCADA solutions comply with enterprise IT/OT architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and integration standards.

  • Develop and maintain MES/SCADA deployment playbooks, reference architectures, implementation standards, templates, and governance processes.

  • Design scalable, secure, and reusable architecture patterns for deploying solutions across multiple manufacturing sites.

  • Review and approve solution designs, architecture diagrams, network connectivity plans, and vendor technical documentation.

  • Guide vendors and system integrators on IT connectivity, infrastructure, security, and enterprise integration requirements.

  • Ensure seamless integration of MES/SCADA platforms with historians, Unified Namespace (UNS), analytics platforms, and enterprise applications.

  • Validate architecture against Purdue Model, ISA-95 standards, OT network segmentation, industrial DMZ patterns, and Zero Trust security principles.

  • Partner with OT Automation teams to ensure machine-level solutions are compatible with IT-managed infrastructure and operational support models.

  • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives, including product traceability, electronic Device History Records (eDHR), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and manufacturing analytics.

  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to assess risks associated with OT/IT integrations.

  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical governance meetings, risk assessments, and solution escalations.

  • Work with quality and validation teams to ensure compliance with FDA-regulated manufacturing processes, audit trails, electronic records, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.

  • Promote standardized architecture components, reusable modules, and consistent implementation practices across manufacturing sites.

  • Support system validation, compliance audits, technical documentation, and ongoing solution improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in solution architecture, application architecture, or technical architecture within manufacturing or industrial environments.

  • Hands-on or architecture-level experience with MES platforms, preferably Sepasoft MES.

  • Experience with SCADA platforms, preferably Ignition by Inductive Automation.

  • Strong understanding of IT/OT integration, industrial automation environments, and manufacturing system architectures.

  • Knowledge of Purdue Model, ISA-95, industrial network segmentation, DMZ architecture, and Zero Trust security principles.

  • Experience integrating MES/SCADA with historians, enterprise applications, analytics platforms, and industrial data infrastructure.

  • Experience developing high-level designs (HLDs), detailed technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and implementation documentation.

  • Understanding of OT cybersecurity, enterprise infrastructure standards, and secure connectivity requirements.

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 use cases, including traceability, eDHR, OEE, and manufacturing analytics.

  • Knowledge of regulated manufacturing environments, system validation, audit trails, electronic records, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and technical governance skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading MES/SCADA deployments or standardization initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, life sciences, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with ISA-88, industrial networking, OT data platforms, and Unified Namespace architectures.

  • Experience supporting GxP systems, computer system validation (CSV), or Computer Software Assurance (CSA).

  • Ability to evaluate design alternatives, develop proofs of concept, and establish reusable architecture standards.
