Quick Overview
Job Description
Project overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner / UX Specialist with strong commercial real estate knowledge to review and refine an already-developed CRE technology platform.
CREmine includes commercial property discovery, realtor listings, investor workflows, syndication and project-management functions, messaging, subscriptions, administrative controls, and legal/document workflows. The core platform is already built. This engagement is focused on improving product clarity, user experience, workflow completeness, and legal-document touchpoints before launch.
This is not a general residential real estate assignment. The ideal candidate understands commercial real estate sales, leasing, broker/realtor practices, investors, syndications, property-level financial information, and the terminology used by commercial real estate professionals.
Primary responsibilities
1. Product and workflow review
Review the existing platform from the perspectives of commercial investors, verified realtors/brokers, syndicate operators, enterprise users, free members, and administrators.
Identify confusing, incomplete, unnecessary, or missing workflow steps.
Validate whether features are organized appropriately for each user category.
Recommend practical launch priorities and distinguish essential launch requirements from later enhancements.
Convert findings into clear, actionable product recommendations and acceptance criteria.
Review the distinction between commercial properties for sale and commercial spaces for lease.
Help define a coherent experience without unnecessarily rebuilding working functionality.
2. Commercial real estate subject-matter review
Validate terminology, data fields, search filters, listing details, statuses, and calls to action against normal commercial real estate practices.
Review realtor listing and verification workflows, including licensed-state controls.
Review commercial-sale and commercial-lease journeys separately.
Assess common commercial lease information such as available square footage, rent basis, lease structure, term, expenses, availability, suites, property-type-specific details, inquiries, and tour requests.
Review investor-facing concepts such as NOI, cap rate, DSCR, offering information, accreditation, due diligence, and syndication workflows.
Identify where residential-real-estate assumptions or investment terminology are incorrectly applied to commercial leasing.
3. UX and navigation review
Review homepage positioning, navigation, dashboards, forms, search, filtering, property cards, detail pages, onboarding, upgrade prompts, empty states, and administrative interfaces.
Design or refine end-to-end user journeys for major personas.
Recommend how CREmine should separate its “For Sale” and “For Lease” experiences while retaining one shared account and platform.
Provide wireframes, annotated mockups, or clear interface specifications for material changes.
Review desktop and mobile usability.
Identify accessibility, trust, privacy, error-handling, and usability concerns.
Ensure users understand which services are free and which require Premium Realtor, Premium Investor, or Enterprise access.
4. Legal-document document and disclosure workflow review
Review where Terms of Use, Privacy Notice, electronic consent, listing attestations, disclosures, acknowledgments, addenda, due-diligence notices, and other legal documents appear in the product journey.
Evaluate whether users receive the correct document or disclosure at the correct stage.
Recommend appropriate acceptance, versioning, timestamping, evidence retention, renewal, expiration, and re-acceptance workflows.
Review the UX surrounding electronic signatures and electronically accepted agreements.
Identify language or workflow areas that require review by licensed legal counsel.
Help translate counsel-approved requirements into understandable product behavior and user-facing presentation.
Important: This role does not replace licensed legal counsel. The contractor must clearly distinguish product/legal-workflow recommendations from legal advice and identify matters requiring attorney approval.
5. Documentation and delivery
Maintain a prioritized findings register with severity, affected persona, business impact, and recommendation.
Produce user-flow diagrams and annotated UX recommendations.
Define the recommended launch scope and phased roadmap.
Write implementation-ready user stories or tickets for approved changes.
Provide acceptance criteria that engineering and QA can test.
Participate in review meetings and explain recommendations to the founder and development team.
Review implemented changes selectively to confirm that the intended workflow was preserved.
Expected deliverables
The fixed-price engagement should include:
Current-state product and UX audit.
Persona and permissions review.
Navigation and information-architecture recommendations.
Commercial sale workflow review.
Commercial lease workflow review.
Realtor onboarding, verification, listing, and lead-management review.
Investor and syndication workflow review.
Legal-document and disclosure touchpoint matrix.
Annotated wireframes or mockups for priority changes.
Prioritized launch-gap register.
Recommended launch scope and phased roadmap.
Implementation-ready specifications for approved priority items.
Final walkthrough and handoff session.
All work product, editable source files, diagrams, mockups, specifications, and supporting documentation must be included in the final handoff.
Required experience
Demonstrated product ownership, product management, or senior UX experience.
Strong knowledge of commercial real estate, not only residential real estate.
Experience with commercial sales, leasing, broker/realtor workflows, investor workflows, or commercial property marketplaces.
Ability to evaluate an existing application and improve it without defaulting to a complete redesign.
Experience designing complex, role-based SaaS workflows.
Strong written communication and requirements documentation.
Ability to produce practical wireframes or annotated UX designs.
Experience working with engineers and translating business requirements into testable specifications.
Familiarity with legal agreements, disclosures, consent capture, document versioning, audit trails, and electronic-signature workflows.
Preferred experience
Experience with CRE marketplaces, investment platforms, syndication platforms, property-management systems, or transaction-management products.
Knowledge of commercial lease structures such as NNN, modified gross, full service/gross, sublease, assignment, and ground lease.
Familiarity with securities-related investor journeys, accreditation, due diligence, and private offering workflows.
Experience collaborating with attorneys or compliance professionals on product implementation.
Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility, privacy-by-design, and administrative moderation tools.
Experience with Figma or a comparable UX design tool.
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate is a practical product thinker who can move comfortably between commercial real estate operations, user experience, product rules, and document workflows.
We are not looking for someone who will only create attractive screens. We need someone who can determine:
Whether a workflow reflects actual commercial real estate practice.
Whether each user sees the appropriate information and controls.
Whether disclosures and agreements appear at the correct point.
Whether a proposed feature belongs in the initial launch.
Whether the resulting requirements are precise enough for engineering and QA.
Proposed engagement structure
The project is expected to require approximately 50–75 hours. Applicants should propose a fixed price covering the complete agreed scope.
A suggested structure is:
Discovery and platform walkthrough: 5–8 hours
Current-state audit and persona review: 10–15 hours
UX, navigation, and workflow design: 15–22 hours
Legal-document touchpoint review: 8–12 hours
Prioritization and implementation specifications: 8–12 hours
Final review and handoff: 4–6 hours
The final scope and milestones will be agreed upon before work begins.
Application requirements
Please provide:
A short explanation of your commercial real estate experience.
Two or three relevant SaaS, marketplace, CRE, fintech, or workflow projects.
Examples of product audits, user flows, wireframes, specifications, or product requirements you personally created.
Your experience with legal-document, disclosure, consent, or e-signature workflows.
How you would evaluate an already-developed platform without unnecessarily redesigning it.
Your proposed approach, milestones, timeline, and fixed price for a 50–75-hour engagement.
Any areas where you would expect licensed legal counsel to participate.
Your availability for review meetings.
Screening questions
What are the most important UX differences between a commercial property-for-sale marketplace and a commercial space-for-lease marketplace?
How would you model a property containing several simultaneously available lease spaces?
What would you review in a verified commercial realtor’s listing workflow?
How do you distinguish legal advice from designing a reliable legal-document and consent workflow?
Describe a time you improved an existing product without recommending a full rebuild.
What artifacts would you deliver so developers could implement your recommendations accurately?
Success criteria
The engagement will be successful when CREmine has:
Clear, commercially credible journeys for its principal user groups.
Distinct and understandable commercial sale and lease experiences.
Consistent permissions, terminology, navigation, and upgrade messaging.
Complete and understandable legal-document touchpoints.
A prioritized, realistic launch scope.
Reviewable mockups and implementation-ready requirements.
Explicit identification of issues requiring licensed counsel.
A practical roadmap that preserves useful existing functionality.
