As a Backend Engineer on the team within Personalization, you will play a central role in scaling interactive, AI-driven audio features to millions of new listeners worldwide across 17 languages and 95 new markets.

responsibilities:

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, evaluate, and ship LLM-based backend solutions for the interactive AI DJ and "Talk to client " features.
• Write, deploy, and maintain distributed, high-volume backend services operating at global scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in user research, design, data science, product management, and engineering to launch new personalized features.
• Drive API development and system architecture to serve stakeholder requirements and reduce custom one-off implementations.
• Participate in rapid experimentation and continuous iteration within an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
• Engage with and influence the broader backend developer community to shape company-wide architectural standards.

qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Solid track record in backend engineering, writing and operating distributed, high-scale production services.

Hands-on experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) or Machine Learning systems in a production environment.

Strong background in system design, data structures, algorithms, and API development.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, experimental environment with clear target deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience with client systems, tools, or past experience as a client contractor.

Excellent cross-functional communication and technical presentation skills.
