Senior Missile Tracking Systems Engineer Scottsdale, AZ | Chantilly, VA | Huntsville, AL Pay Estimate: $82.87 - $92.87/Hour U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law Top Secret Clearance Required at time of hire We are hiring a Senior Missile Tracking Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force Space Development Agency (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Ground Management and Integration (GMI) program.
This cleared systems engineering role requires U.S. citizenship, an active DoD Top Secret clearance, and experience developing complex systems, architectures, interfaces, algorithms, and mission capabilities supporting satellite-based missile tracking and ground systems. This role supports the development and deployment of advanced SDA ground operational systems, including ground entry points, operations centers, enterprise test and checkout capabilities, and infrastructure management.
The engineer will focus on missile tracking systems engineering, satellite and payload scheduling, missile tracking data analysis and fusion, system architecture, requirements decomposition, integration, testing, and opportunities to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to mission capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform systems engineering for the Space Development Agency PWSA Ground Management and Integration program.
- Decompose system requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and system design behaviors.
- Support the evolution, expansion, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance of ground operational systems.
- Develop and support ground entry points, operations centers, enterprise test and checkout capabilities, and infrastructure management.
- Support pre-planned and ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellite and payload capabilities used to track missiles.
- Analyze and fuse missile tracking data provided by satellites for ground processing and rapid information dissemination.
- Develop and evaluate system logic and algorithms supporting complex mission requirements.
- Support systems engineering, integration, testing, maintenance, and site activities across the PWSA ground architecture.
- Identify opportunities to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to continuous improvement, mission performance, and system innovation.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional engineering team developing and deploying mission-critical space and ground systems.
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within classified facilities.
- Active Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
- Ability to obtain Top Secret with Polygraph eligibility.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 8+ years of job-related experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years of job-related experience.
- Systems engineering experience supporting complex system development, architecture, requirements, interfaces, integration, and/or testing.
- Ability to work at least three days per week on-site or fully on-site based on program requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile development experience.
- Recent experience designing and developing systems that solve complex problems using algorithms.
- Recent experience with algorithm development and tuning for specific mission parameters.
- Recent experience with missile tracking system design and architecture.
- Experience with sensor fusion techniques.
- Experience designing system logic and assessing and scheduling satellite services used to track missiles.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application to system design and deployment.
